I saw Paranormal Activities (2) today, thought it was pretty rudimentary in the devices it uses. Effective physically, my body reacted to the suspense and all, but consiously it was laughable. Anyone else feel this way?
I thought the sound use was pretty neat, threshold of feeling in the bass got used alot to compliment the rise of suspense at night in a manner that began to condition the viewer. White noise and sound masking was used to to gradually increase an ambient level of noise, then drop out to make things seem even more quiet then before. Then thwack you with noise to literally punch your body with a wave of sound.
Interesting sonically, if anyone's going to see it, pay attention to when what noises play. :)
I've also seen The Martyrs (lol yucky), Riddles of the Sphinx (yay old plotless feminism), Jyndabyne (yay fishing), and like 8million other things. I recomend Let the Right One in (swedish original), and The Limey (neat action/drama).
