New Thread Idea

Would it be a good idea if we make a thread entitled 'Name and Genre Help' where we post our songs in that thread if we need help with a name or with a genre. There are a number of different songs categorized in the wrong genre or in Miscellaneous when there is a genre for their song, and there are also loads of songs with a name such as 'Battle Theme' or 'Idea <insert number here>'.

Sure, changing a genre or name of a song doesn't really make the song sound any better, but let's face it, if a song has a good name, people will definitely be more interested in it and click on it than if it had no name or a name such as the ones mentioned above. In addition to that, having a song categorized in the right genre will have the fans of the genre hear your song and you'll have more of a chance of getting more fans and less of a chance of getting idiots who lower the score of their review because your song is in the wrong genre.

So, is it a good idea?

not sure that it'd get any real impact tbh...
main point is that there aren't THAT many threads like that, and if they're not formed to be some kind of sneaky-sneaky adv. thread, i personally don't mind either of the above type of threads (songname, whatgenre)...

Idk about that...I feel like it would get to the point the Audio Advertisements got to. Where there are a bunch of posts but no one ever reviews or anything...

It might work in the beginning, but who's gonna want to keep up with it the entire time?
Not many people.

Sad moment for rock and metal fans.
Ronnie James Dio died today. As many of us know, he was one of the icons of rock and metal stage, performing with legendary bands like Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Heaven & Hell, and his own band Dio and guest appearance with Deep Purpe.
On his official website there is this announcement"
"Message from Wendy Dio
Today my heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45am 16th May. Many, many friends and family were able to say their private good-byes before he peacefully passed away. Ronnie knew how much he was loved by all. We so appreciate the love and support that you have all given us. Please give us a few days of privacy to deal with this terrible loss. Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever.

- Wendy Dio"

Our sincere condolences.

RIP Dio

This sucks, I still remember the first time I heard Dio. Also my dad owns the a copy of Black Sabbath album "Heaven and Hell" in vinyl. Dio was truly amazing and his work with Rainbow is some of my all time favorite music to listen to.

Meh, whatever... Normally this would be a bit of a problem. But because the policy here is to out weigh the rights of the accused from the rights of the victim, everything is hunky-dorry. Because they get a pardon and full benefits for the rest of their lives and we'll just have to pay a few more hundreds of millions dollars in tax money that they gave to the mortgage company which they will put 5% into the company and the rest will go to Filipino hookers.

And the best part, no one (up top) will think anything of it.

don't even dare bringing that up in this thread, ALL threads are to be spared from those discussions - because we who've been around long enough are EXTREMLEY sick and tired of that stuff.

you might bring something up in here if it's NOT BITCHING/WHINING or similiar.

Another Idea

I'll stop with the ideas eventually, but I've suddenly had an idea. What if we organise an activity where we create this HUGE song which incorporates ALL of the genres of NG. We get 29 people [minus Miscellaneous and Voice Acting] to each do a specific genre, and it has to be like 16 bars long or something, and then we combine it all together to one song, with each genre transitioning to the next. After all, I know of quite a few people who can fill in some of the genres :3.

It's a bit like this (no self advertisement) or this, except on a much larger scale. We can decide on a key, a DAW (FL Studio lolz), a tempo (can vary according to genre) and a time signature.

Maybe if ALL of the genres is a bit too much, we can decide on a few more popular genres and leave out the ones like Ska, Bluegrass, Goth, Blues, etc... Then, we get a few people to work on the transitions from one genre to another, and upload it to NG as the longest song and biggest collab, plus maybe to mediafire or some other file hosting website in higher quality (or we can see if Tom MIGHT let us upload a bigger filesize).

So, is it yet another fail idea, or does it have some potential?

Wow, amazing. This idea is inspiring and the chance to make a good song that will prove NG's Greatness. I'm definitely into this idea! Sign me up if you do it, and note of advice, try to get some of the best NG artists you can find if you can so we can make it as awesome as possible.
