I'd pretty much get addicted not to the game itself, but modding it like crazy (installing the right config of mods). Then when I was done modding, I'd actually not play it because by that time I was bored :P

Yeahhhh, I definitely hit a chord. I never thought of you as the gamer type. Clearly, morrowind is a good pillar at this stage in gaming lore. I might consider it the ff7 of a new generation of gamers.

Curious nat, you have any other games you'd consider life worthy?

Bethesda RPG games
The only game that can even compete with Morrowind would have to be Oblivion. Just cause.

Morrowind vs. Oblivion
Not meaning to start a "dis gaym iz teh betterz" bashing, but just thought I should mention this. ;D
I've started playing Oblivion (2nd time) yesterday because nostalgia for Morrowind came over me, and well, as I mentioned before, I promised never to play it again.
<rant>
I just got really disappointed (again) with the obvious lack of... well, story. I actually forgot why I didn't like it so much the first time. I mean, Morrowind had a really complex main plot, not to mention the side-quests, while Oblivion's main plot can be summed up in about three sentences.
Bethesda spent waaaay to much time on making a really sexy game engine, and has ignored the importance of a good plot (which actually makes no sense, as the programming team aren't the same people as the writers for the storyline). I guess they just thought that the Havok physics engine would pull the game through (and it did, commercially - it was declared "Game of the Year", right?), but to a person who has played any older installment in the series (especially Morrowind), that isn't enough.
So yeah, to me, Morrowind > Oblivion. And that is an understatement.

You don't play games, silly. Wondering why you don't know about the game would be like wondering why Charlemagne didn't upgrade to Windows 7. <3

locks
So some of you know locks and lockpicking is a hobby of mine. Today I picked up a new lock to practice on, and discovered something interesting. One of these. For the price it's got a removable core, which means I can re-key it. This is important in a practice lock.
Once i got it apart (this was a good learning experience!) i learned something interesting. This lock has five security pins. They make it harder to pick, and it's surprising to find five of them in a relatively inexpensive lock. I guess what I'm saying is that for a budget padlock this is definitely a decent choice.
Attached picture you can see the spool pins.

Morrowind vs. Oblivion
Morrowind just had more lore, and I think more quests, not exactly sure. I also liked the dynamic of Morrowind's quests. Every single quest in Oblivion required fighting, give or take a few. Like the commerce one at the Imperial City, that could've gone over without fighting, but it didn't. :c
I spentupwards of like two years playing Morrowind and finished Oblivion in like four months. Pretty crazy span of time for less landmass, eh Oblivion
Both still are phenomenal games. <3

It's not tough. There's a good forum to look over. Lot of really great info there.
It's a really good hobby if you like to have stuff to do with your hands. As for the forces of good, yeah, generally. Locksport in general is all about the study and manipulation of locks that aren't being actually used. Illegal use is strictly frowned upon. I like the hobby and it's a handy skill to have if you ever get locked out of somewhere.

NG Winter Theme
I have to say that it wasn't as good as last years.
They completely changed the wideborder's color, making it look like it's highlighted 24/7 as you scroll down. The them is more NG based, whereas last year's was more winter based with a furnace and shit. I could easily see this theme taken place in a desert, replacing the santa hats and making the Pico/FlashBot cary something like a jug of water or some shit. Still a good deal of artwork though :P
RANTZ
In other news. I heard some rumors that Xbox Live is going down for a week because those no-lifes wanna see their families. A good deal for them, but they should hire some replacements or some shit to handle LIVE, not shut the whole thing down when about 80% of the shooter populace has/is getting Modern Warfare 2. I think it's a sign telling us to stop playing live and start doing other social things that benefit us.
*cough cough* hang out with our families too *cough cough*
Speaking of live, ADD ME.

Confident about my music
I am not saying that im the best. But ive been getting pretty confident about my music production! I finally came to a level where i can say "im okay".
This is not a topic about music production but more about how you feel about your music. When was the time that you went like "yeah.. im good!"

NG Winter Theme
This years theme is way better than any other theme. Because it have robots innit. Might be that it's just lame NG-bots, but it's better than no bots at all.

a friend of mine heard one of my tracks and was like "holy fuck your as good as Aphex Twin"
realizing he had no clue how far i am from that, i said "fuck yes i am"
more on topic, im getting to the point where when ppl ask me if im good i say, "i know what im doing, but i could be better"

Electronic music really isn't skill based. It's more about how much you know and try out. Whenever I hear producers referred to as "good" I get a little irked. There can be some skill in composition, but like I said it's more about experimentation and knowledge. I love aphex twins work. I wouldn't consider all of it "masterful" though. I remember someone in these forums saying he finished a set once just tapping on a mic for like 15 minutes. That sounds like something my art teacher would do. I'm not familiar with everything he's done but I'd sooner tip my hat to squarepusher for incorporating his bass playing into his stuff. I just read a comment on youtube from an interview with aphex that I agree with some what:
"aphex is just a normal guy who's made it from the bed room to the stage, all these fucking arty farty idiots make%uFEFF him out to be something he's not. he's just someone who makes good tunes"
A little overbearing but when it comes right down to it, truth. He's just a guy that makes good music. He's been at it for almost as long as I've been alive so he has a good amount of experience, but be careful not to idol worship the guy. Anyone in this forum could be the next aphex twin. EVEN YOU >:(
Also, in relation to what I was saying at first in terms of skill vs. knowledge... if anyone says to me that they're a really good producer I'd simply laugh at them and tell them to be a little more humble. Sure composing can be an art form, but with the enormous amount of samples that exist out there it becomes really easy to just produce good songs without trying or learning anything. Drum and bass for dummies: Google search "sick drum and bass samples", use two sawtooth waves with some distortion for a synth lead, add a sub bass, make a chromatic melody, use a tech step drum pattern, find some cheesy monologue sample, done. I'd prefer to hear "I know a thing or two about producing" versus "I'm pretty good." The word "good" just comes off to me as arrogant. Dunno. Pet peeve.
On with your day.

Ive been getting confident in certain areas, and making advances in others. It pays off though when youv'e worked hard on something and you get positive feedback.
