people who are willing to make blanket statments like 'beer tastes like piss', I feel have generally had one poor experience with cheap beer.

and that makes me sad.

Sadly yes. I should taste vodka with juice and stuff...

But beer in general tastes like piss.

CRAFT beer

Beer brewed in smaller batches and then shipped relatively fresh to your liquor store is obviously better. We've got a brewery right here in fort wayne, and fresh beer is wonderful.

+1 to this. Can't stand beer as a whole, but microbreweries put out some interesting stuff.

I have to admit though, I'm a big fan of Blue Moon and that beer is pretty commercial.

Yeah, but it's commercial much in the same way Sam Adams is commercial.

It's like a microbrew blown up into a full-scale operation.

I'm big on craft beers myself though. Especially a good wheat. I can always go for that.

Tiesto

I forgot to mention in last post...

I just got back from seeing Tiesto in St. Louis! =3

And might I say, it was cool seeing him play. Partly because of the epic stage presence he brings, and partly because I got to see that... even one of the top DJs in the world occasionally gallops a beat xD

I saw tiesto in Charlotte a week ago and honestly...I really wish I got to go to some his earlier shows. He's gotten way too poppy for my tastes. His show was fantastic though.

alcohol

today i bought two cans of whiskey, i held both of em upside down in my toilet.

im telling you, coca cola is the best toilet cleaner, and alcohol helps against bacteria.

thats the only thing beverage is good for.

Pfft.

In the most evil place on earth; the supermarket.

I admit i took a sip of one, but its disgusting, it reminded me of when i was a alcoholic years ago, wich is why i threw em both into the toilet in the first place.

Useless bitching
Nuts... I have a cool idea for a big-band/rock type of song (think like Chicago's 25 or 6 to 4), but I have absolutely no good brass samples to make that dream a reality... I hate when that happens.

CDs on a whim
Ever buy a CD on a whim? Like, you just think something sounds interesting, then take a chance on it?

That happened to me. I was listening on the last.fm scrobbler, when a song by Harry Partch came up. It was pretty crazy/interesting, so I read a little bit about him, saw that he invented his own instruments, and since I thought that was so cool, I bought a CD of his (because you aren't going to find a whole lot of Harry Partch torrents on the web, obviously). I was really impressed. I mean, very impressed. So much so that I went and bought ANOTHER CD of his (Delusions of the Fury, which a live performance of is on youtube).

Ever happen to any of you?

Damn you and your non-government regulated alcohol. In NC, and some others states I'm pretty sure, you have to go these stupid stores called "ABC" stores to get anything other than beer and wine.

Tiesto's not the best by any measure. He's very good, and in the past he was a formidable figure as both a producer & a DJ, but these days, much of his stage presence is due to great visuals & lighting. It's made him slack off a bit on delivering things through his actual presence. He doesn't interact well with the audience. I've met many, many a slightly-lower-profile DJ with much more genuine stage presence.

As for sustained-energy shows (4+ hours), pretty safe to say that the likes of Armin van Buuren & Ferry Corsten can contend with or one-up Tiesto (see footage of TIABM: The Experience and Full on Ferry, or Armin Only & The Imagine Tour). I'm told second-hand that the likes of Darude, Myon & Shane 54, and Chris Lawrence are impressive as well.

I also have the sneaking suspicion that as far as live shows go, Infected Mushroom blows almost ALL of them out of the water.

First off.. yeah.. Tiesto does maintain energy for hours pretty well.

The jaegerbombs I saw him doing behind the booth probably helped with that, lol

Infected Mushroom though... oh jeez. I would <3 to see them live soooo much.

Although, I've heard by many that Daft Punk does legendary live performances.

They really do. You gain a new found respect for them after seeing them live. The set for their recent Alive tour was amazing.

Seeing artists live

I would absolutely love to watch a Yanni performance. The guy seems to write melodies that are incredibly hard to play for your average musician.
