I propose an idea where if you get banned from the audioportal you can no longer view or make posts on the audio forum and it just gives them a nice message.

Can you tell I'm tired of I'm banned threads yet?

That's kind of shitty dude.

Well, what makes you think that banning them would stop them from creating a new account and posting the same shit? It's gonna happen no matter what, so let it be.

A new interest in popular music?

Normally I disdain popular music, but Green Day's new album actually has quite an original 'taste' to it. The headlining songs aren't really too great, but a good portion of the other ones have a very similar feel to the bands "Bread" and "Oasis," which I absolutely love.

"Restless Heart Syndrome" in particular reminds me of Oasis.

Anyway, i'm glad to hear some good ol' (not autotuned rap) rock music.

Thoughts?

Radio garbage

I try not to listen to the radio, ever. It usually just makes me angry. The only decent I've recently come to like (that has actually been on the radio) is Silversun Pickups. Really good stuff in my opinion.

Thanx
Thanx guys for being nice to my wife here on NG, I really appreciate.

Radio
Radio is a "no-no" for me. Beside the fact that someone else is picking up the music for me to listen to, there is totally crap pop most of the time.
Still, here in Lithuania are 2 radio stations quite good, Jazz FM and Chillout Station (or something...).
Once I was in a car with some friends and suddenly on the radio was a song recorded by me (with the rock band I'm collaborating now)... felt weird...

Radio

I fail too see the point.
If I want to listen to music I'll listen to music that I want to listen to, not what some "DJ" is going to play for me.

People that listen to the radio are people like my mum. She hasn't got a clue about any of the song names or the artists, even though she'll claim it's her favourite song in the world.
I don't really understand people like that. What are they going to do when the songs goes out of date? HUH? WHAT THEN!?
Hmm.

Hmm.

Buy the CD. Or some hit-compilation cd the radio station releases every now and then.

I like web--radio where you can ask the dj for something to play. Or you just pick a station that plays the genre you like. But commercial radio is a no for me. All that pop crap.

Radio

i pretty much only listen to some online DnB-radio stations, bassdrive.com most often.

If i wanna listen to music, or if i want music in the background - that's a big difference. also, if a DJ i know is good is playing, i love it when they whip out hit after hit, and surprise me with it. so yeah, its not all "if i wanna listen to music, i myself choose" for me. also, it's great when they throw out some new tune one never heard or whatever. it helps give a little more feeling of "live", kindof.

Radio is good for discovering new bands you've never heard of. The problem is, where I live, they never play new bands or anything, they play some old pop songs.

Like I said, she doesn't know the name of the song or the artist. And I'm not sure our radio station releases anything.

Internet radio is okay though. Although I only listen to it for electronic music. And even then some nob end a hundred years back made these things called "mixes", or something, so it doesn't tell me the track name ;)
And I don't like have hour long mp3 files on my iTunes 'cause I get OCD about it for some god awful reason HAH!

I use myspace and the such to discover new music.

Dj Console

I just got my hands on a Hercules Dj Console MK 2, for free! Found it in a locker at a school while doing summer clean up!
I looked it up online, and the cheapest I could find those things for was about $200 usd, so I got pretty lucky seeing as I was planning on picking up some form a Dj-ing hardware, but I have no money at the moment.
The thing is fully functional, and works great with Virtual Dj.
Ahhhh I feel so lucky right now, anyone wanna go to vegas?

Hmm, shouldn't you bring it to the ''lost and found'' thingy?
I mean, some kid is probably searching everywhere to find it. He gets really sad and then suddenly he gets an idea! He drives to school and asks if anybody has seen his Hercules Dj Console MK 2... but of course nobody saw it. Except you. And you took it.

Cruel, cruel world

What MH16 is trying to say, is that you shouldn't tell anybody that you found it. They might tell the kid you took it. :-p

I like internet radio, where I can get the very specific kind of music I want to listen to, and listen to DJ sets of it for HOURS. Occasionally I'll buy a song that's on there.

Radio

I haven't listened to the radio in over two years, without a hint of exaggeration. All that plays is easily digestible, mass produced crap. At least that's how it is on my local stations.

Radio broadcasters like Sirius and XM have some good metal stations, but I always forget to turn it on.

I guess what it takes MTV to play music is for a popular musician to die.

I also heard that Michael Jackson is going to be recycled, considering he's 80% plastic.

Too soon? This is NG after all.

RIP KING

MJ

My opinion is that we shouldn't let the news infect the audio forum. As appropriate as it is for us to talk about him, everyone else already is. We'll be hearing the jokes/news rain in all over the place... lets's just try keeping this place clean of it of for a little while. That or let Rig make a thread about it.

Besides, this is all an elaborate prank of 4chan. He's not actually dead.

i think jade beat rig to it
http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/1074 868

but i do wanna talk about MJ.. i grew up listening to him.. i actually played the Jackson5 7 inches and thriller album my dad bought on a record player, i would put pledge on the floor and put on my socks on and try to moon walk..i had a tiny little white cassette tape with halloween sounds on side A and MJ's thriller on side B... Michael Jacksons black and white was played every hour on the hour on mtv when it was first aired .. and i watched it every time that day.. i remember all the spoofs done on that show "In Living Color about him and laughed my little ass off when i was in 5th grade home sick with nothing else to watch but the price is right... by the way i was born in 1981

Im sad that MJ is dead. We all know about his pedophilia charges, we dont know if he really did touch the children or if he was being set up for some weird behavior and was sick of being in the spotlight of the world for something he wasnt even guilty of and just paid off the parents to stop.... other parents caught on to this and decided they could get money by doing that. Fact is we dont know.

All im saying is im sad about it because i loved his music as a child growing up in the 80s and 90s.
I still listen to his stuff here and there.. he was a tragic mysterious character and entertainer with a great talent... his legacy wont be forgotten.... i guess you have to be a certain age to of had MJ be a part of your childhood....

that last statement was not meant to be a joke .. but it is pretty damn funny

Rant/ Michael Jackson

Well, I hate to burst your bubble, but he isn't actually dead. The real Michael Jackson went into hiding years back as an elaborate publicity stunt. Then he replaced himself with that white impostor. After they capitalized off of the stunt, they went into hiding and left the fake the Never Land Ranch and the money initially earned from Thriller to keep him floating for a while. They planned on eventually killing him off and capitalizing off of the money earned from cd sales after. When it was all said and done, the original Michael Jackson stayed in hiding but managed to earn more than enough money, global recognition and a history that will never be forgotten.

Now that the truth is out may the gossip die before we actually all get sick of hearing about him. I don't care if you wanted to learn how to moon-walk at one point. A lot of us did. Please, talk about it in here. Thing is, I almost died a little while back but I didn't want any e-drama/ spam, so I made a blog post about it. If you have something to say about his death there are plenty of other places for it. Make a facebook status about it and cry over it when you realize all your friends did the exact same thing. Don't get me wrong, I liked his music, he was a great dancer, he was an amazing vocalist but when it comes right down to it, everyone is already talking about it. As appropriate as it would normally be to talk about the death of a vocalist or a musician in the audio forum, it's already everywhere else which technically makes it spam/ overkill.

Now that I have proven my hypocrisy by writing up several paragraphs on the subject, I would hope that we now let it rest. If you feel the need to discuss something relevant, comment about the existence of this post.

Guh...

HAPPY NEWS

I just got back from school, and they told me (and my classmates) we all PASSED OUR YEAR! =D

So yeah, I'm happy, bye bye school. Now for 2 years of evening school in combination with a parttime job and then I'm out of education.
Seriously, I'm happy.
