theyre not millionaires - their record labels are - hthe cyut the artists get is ridiculously low in most cases.. which is why indie labels are better..

Dexter and Chron are right. No further elaboration is needed. A peculiar thought occured to me though: Why isn't the film industry suffering the same problems as the music industry? We know that people like to make bootleg video tapes and sell them. We also know that many movies are posted on the internet for free and can be downloaded as torrents, or even simply watched online.

Actually, after thinking about it, I'm sure that the film industry is feeling it, it's just that they're not as vocal about it since they still make money off of their stuff.

Also, I this reminded me of an interesting article on this comedy website. I know it's a comedy website, but the truth of this article will throw you for a loop.

when a movie is bootlegged and put on youtube a big commotion is made of it and it is generally taken off shortly after if the movie is just released.

sometimes you even hear about it on the news.

people still liek to go to the movies to see a movie thoughh so they don't suffer that much ;)

So, i'm currently working hard to get everything in order for the stage me and a friend are production and sound managers for. It's alot of e-mailing artists forth and back, and today we've been packing most of the equipment that we need, for FoH, monitor, light, and to build the stage.

This is the second time i work at the festival, but the first time i have actual responcibility. Last time, two years ago, i was just a soundtechnician, working for free n shit... now i actually get paid, although it's not alot... it's good experience though, and it looks good in my CV to have had this kind of responcibility. lolol.

I'm gonna check with the management if it's OK to broadcast live via stickam - not for the music itself, but to show when me or somone else is mixing or some shit like that. we'll see if there's time or so for that...

Doing live shows is alot of fun, if you haven't tried it out already i urge you to do so - check with your local youths-hangout or local small stage where they gladly accept fresh and spiring Live-sound technicians :)

Here's a link to the festival, btw... NiN and Depeche Mode are playing :D (not at the stage I'm at though, duuuh)...

it IS fun - hell, i can't belive i'm actually getting paid for it, it's a great job! but it's only good as an extra-job for me, that way i can keep it interesting and fun, i don't think i would like to work with sound, be it live or studio, since it's a hobby. as an extra-job it's awesome though. :)

sometimes threads don't get moderated because there might be some kind of potential in them - it have happened that threads that start out crappy ends up being good. it's generally better to just leave them be, if noone cares about them, they'll just drop down.
it's not like it was two-three years ago, when n00bs and outsiders got flamed for every single thread. the elitism that ravaged this forum may not be gone alltogether, but it's ALOT better today than it used to be! thanks to most regs having shaped up. :)

i must admit with the next gen of audio musicians replacing the older ones there was sort of an entire rehaul of newgrounds musicians, and yes today as far as elitism goes - it is much better :)

That will look very good on your CV, this "looking good on CV" was the reason for me to participate to an opera festival.
The festival included also a masterclass for sound engineers, recording and musical production for classical/opera/ contemporary music.

I would like to work as a sound technician also for a rock festival... would be better to play there with a band, became famous and make a big pile of money... dreams...
