That's actually pretty weak. A friend of mine can easily empty 0,5 liters (about 17 oz or something) in a little over three seconds. And I know this because I saw him do it on more than a few occasions, and even measured his timing with a stopwatch a couple of times.. He claims it has something to do with "opening up your throat". I'm hesitant to ask where he obtained this skill, but it obviously has some uses.

The more imaginative ones among you could probably think of a few more. :3

Chugging

I've never been able to chug stuff. Even water. Just can't swallow that fast or in that large amounts. In fact I can't even do a shot in one swallow :P I guess I have a sensitive gag reflex.

Chugging

I can chug most forms of Liquids. But not straight vodka. Something in my brain tells me it's going to do me more damage than anything else.
Which isn't true haha!

Also, I chug my water in the morning so I can swallow my tablets. It works.

I always won chugging contests cuz I learned at a young age that if you consciously widen your throat before you drink you can pretty much swallow a tall glass of whatever in about 2 gulps :P

man was that kid shocked hahaha..

in reality when you drink your throat regulates what it is you swallow - just gotta get past that.

and gregaaron it has nothing to do with having a strong gag reflex- I have a pretty strong gag reflex and it doesnt affect me in that way..

good luck with oral tho ;)

Are my age. I'm finding out all these really fucking amazing new producers who are popping up are all around my age, or a little older. That makes me insanely jealous. I was jealous when I found out Jaytech was 22. I just found out today that Mat Zo is 19. And one of my favorite progressive house producers, PROFF, well I can't find his age but by the look of the picture on his myspace he could be 17. Grrrrrrr....

it all depends on when you start..

remember tho - those kiddies will burn out earlier - when they arent relying on the money - sucks to be them! :P

DOES NOT LIKING BEER MAKE YOU GAY?

no.

Alot of gay people like beer, and a lot of straight people don't like beer - I don't like beer - any beer - I don't like the way they ferment it - and it ends up giving me a headache - I much prefer vodka - it looks like water - and its liquidy - just strong - I laugh when people see me drinking a smirnoff and theyre liek "thats girly" - I say to them "dude, this has more alcoholic content in it than the beer you're drinking!"

idiots.

Well, to be fair, it doesn't. Then again, none of my songs do either hahaha
It's just that no one who's ever reviewed my songs had less than 10 brain cells, so they never called attention to it.

And the last topic I'll comment on for now:

Young Signed Artists
Honestly, I'm not looking to get signed because I just don't see that much money in it. Recognizing that my main skill lies in production music and the only commercially viable type of music I make is hiphop beats, I know that my future music career will probably lie in production music, and I'll likely be working with videogame companies, television producers or filmmakers. Furthermore, I can actually make a good amount of money right now through production music if I just get off my lazy ass and send out some demos to production libraries.

First of all, what do you mean by "you people"?

And secondly, my comments apply to not just a major label, but any label. That particular business model is slowly becoming unsustainable due to technological advancements, and the record companies can't keep pace.

Whenever someone tries to make a move to prevent piracy, someone finds a way around it. And law enforcement officials really aren't concerned with this issue either, so much so that I bet that 75% of the people charged with enforcing this law are guilty of breaking it themselves.

I'll go even further: Many artists signed to a label don't make more than the advance check pays out. In fact, many of those who do make money don't make it from album sales; they make it from concerts and licensing, the latter of which being what I plan to specialize in.

Unless I'm missing something, wouldn't that just compound the issue I cited in my post?

And wouldn't an independent label offer much less money in an advance, tightening funding for live performances?

Labels

It's true being signed to a label won't necessarily take you far unless you're very lucky. The biggest plus is the publicity you'll get from it. The advantage to independant labels is there are a few die hard fans of the label that are trying to help out the little guys. They're rare but it matters a lot to the artist. I'd like to say I try to be one of these people ;)

Half of it will always come down to luck. Take souljaboi for example. Why the fuck is he rich?

luck.

Fact is newgrounds has plenty of music artists that are 100x better than him. Luck is the key to success in the music/art world, not skill or knowledge.

As for labels, it's not getting signed that really matters it's WHO you get signed to if you care about making money. Prepare to make more on merch then on cd sales, because that's how most contemporary rock artists do it. Labels have a tendency to fuck artists over when it comes to the money.

As for indy labels? That's a complete fucking paradox in itself. A better name for them would be minor record labels.

I guess my central argument is that labels won't make money for the artist in most occasions. The most they can do is bring publicity to the artist which will in turn make money for them through other means. I'm not saying I wouldn't sign myself to a label if the opportunity arose, because I would for these reasons:

-The advance check would allow me to upgrade my equipment, allowing me to produce even better music.
-The publicity, as well as the little note on my resume saying ______ signed me to their label would allow me to go to other companies and ask for more profitable deals.
-Them distributing my music means that more people will hear my music and hopefully enjoy it.

So, while getting signed is definitely a good thing for your career, it definitely shouldn't be your final goal.

A question to B.A.B

Anyone else is free to awsner this. So basicly as i am reading this well known Artist dont earn most from there money from album sells but from concerts? So why do some of them complain about music being downloaded for free? Like DR.Dre did once.

Because i am very confused about this issue does donwloading music for free effect the artist?

of course downloading for free hurts the artist.

And sure they got a lot of money from concerts too..

and people complain about anything that deprives them of money.
