Whats the opposite of nightcore? @realfaction You pretty much helmed my old thread about nightcore so you might know.
When I was younger I used to slow down music in Fruity loops and I usualy liked it because it changes the tone of the music into something darker, larger sometimes more dramatic.
Vaporwave. But, it's not as simple as that (but almost as bad). Let's recap.
Nightcore is something people do whether it be for undeserved youtube fame, or just to make a song sound "cutesy" which is quite annoying. Nightcore being that all people do is speed up songs that arent theirs, claiming its Nightcore, usually involving anime girls as a background to the video, for whatever reason. It's a degenerative/hypocritical movement continuing from Happy Hardcore, which was similar, except producers actually put work into their remixes.
Vaporwave is also stealing. Sometimes it's literally just as simple as slowing something down, so again...it's bogus. However, it's more limited in choice than "nightcore" (which i refuse to call a genre, it isn't, neither is vaporwave really considering it's stealing). Basically it's just chopping up bits and pieces of an old 80's or 90's hit (favorably 80's to the vapers or whatever you call them) and slow them down, rearranging the pieces.
Sure, it sounds cool, not quite annoying like nightcore, but the fact stands it's still laughable the fact there are producers
out there claiming it's their work when all they did was a few simple tweaks. It's trippy music for anyone who's high or not. It makes some songs sound cooler, but I still don't respect the movement just for the fact barely any work goes into it, and they're making money illegally off of stolen songs they slowed down. That's what music has become today in one aspect, it's a damn shame. Not all music, but the fact people acknowledge this, and nightcore, as a genre, boggles my mind.
They say it's a way to appreciate old music, but makes no difference to me, stolen is stolen. Here's a vaporwave example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cU8HrO7XuiE

I hate it when people rip off other people without crediting them, at least call it a remix. Ugh.
