My only confusion on 8Dio's dubstep tools is how they weren't made sooner.

Its also free and quick to upgrade so it seems kinda silly to debate whether or not the update is worth it. Free is always worth it =)

Woah, I didn't know it was free. How do you upgrade it?

FL Studio has LIFETIME free upgrades if you own a copy. You can just login to their website and download the latest version. I dont even think you need to DL a new registry code either.

My guess is that at leastone of 3 people I just told that too has a cracked version and is confused and thinks FL is free and it is NEWT.

Komplete 9

I don't get this. Komplete 9 is 500 euro. It contains 33 different products, including industry standards and highly popular VSTs such as Guitar Rig, Kontakt 5, Massive and Absynth. Some of those 33 products cost 400 euro on their own, like Kontakt 5. So to buy Kontakt 5 I need to fork out 400 euro, and to buy Kontakt 5 and 32 other products that each can cost hundreds of euro, I need to fork out 500 euro?

How does this make any sense?

Think of it this way... you've already decided to spend the 400 euros, and now they can make a quick extra 100 euros off you by offering a bundle with no further production costs except for some bandwidth or one extra CD (my Komplete 7 box consists of 9 CDs for Kontakt, 2 CDs for Battery and 1 CD for everything else). That is how bundles work.

They dont want you to buy just one thing. Thats why. They make it silly to buy anything except everything. It's both smart and retarded.

On a completely unrelated note, I have turned into a complete audio asshole. When did that happen?

Hell, it's working like a charm on me. I've heard great stuff about a good amount of those plugins in Komplete 9, like Absynth, Guitar Rig, Session Strings, etc. Do want.

Would you / anyone else recommend buying Komplete 9 over a new MIDI keyboard, Spectrasonics Trillian, East/West Pianos Gold or East/West Symphonic Orchestra Gold?

Sorry for the double post, but does anyone know if there's a time limit on this bundle or is it here to stay?

Actually you're better off waiting for them to slice the price in half just before komplete 10 arrives.

This. Komplete 8 went down to 300 bucks just before 9 came out.

@step - I sell the shit so I'll let you know when that happens with 9. Its still worth the 500 bucks though if youre too excited to wait almost a year for 200 dollar savings.

Trillian and EW Pianos arent exactly worth it unless you plan on making rather specific songs featuring those instruments. Also, I coulda sworn you already had EW orchestra....but hell yeah its worth it if you dont have that.

Other software thats worth it right now you might consider:

Izotope Ozone 5 - mastering suite
Sound Toys native effects - mixing effects suite

If you are wanting to wait and these 2 effects suites dont fit your fancy, then a MIDI keyboard is probably the way to go. Here are my respective suggestions for that:

If you arent a keyboard player and want something small - Novation SLMKII 49 key controller

If you are a pianist or care about having actual piano action for better playing control - Akai MPK88

You can choose what you install though. I mainly use the softsynths from Komplete and got rid of all the Battery samples I didn't use. It's just too bad I can't choose what Kontakt samples I want. I know there are some I won't ever use but others are handy to have.

Pros:
-Kontakt is a pretty awesome sampler
-Battery sampler gives decent tweaking options
-Massive makes awesome low end basses
-FM8 is awesome for pads
-ABsynth can make some strange noises
-Guitar Rig is so much fun
-Reaktor has some nice effects and compressors

Cons:
-Kontakt can be a Memory Hog and not much of the instruments really jump out as impressive
-Battery samples are meh
-Massive is so easy to recognize
-FM8 can feel thin sometimes (and in my experience the effects and ASDR buses always reset while the values don't)
-ABsynth can be ear rape at random times so be careful.
-Guitar Rig is kind of a memory hog but other than that i have nothing bad to say about it.
-Reaktor will make you say: "what is this I don't even?"

"I want to care but I just... don't" -Me
