My room is pretty much a no-go when it comes to acoustics. First of all it's not even square-like, and the ceiling part above the right side of my bed isn't horizontal but descends in a 45 degree angle. All my walls are plastered though, which is a pro I think.
Also that cut-off top left corner just fucks it up even more.

They've been my 1-size-fits-all (studio, homework, walking around...) headphones for the past year or two. I love em. Good build quality, solid detail in the mids and highs. They're a bit bass-heavy, but that's okay (especially when compared to the tragically-lacking-in-bass HD280Pros).

Its not a no-go, but it does suck for sake of ease in treating. You can still attack the first reflections, its just that they are going to be in weird places and look weird. The biggest problem with the room will probably be coupling, but thats definitely treatable. Having a perfectly square room makes things symmetric, easy to treat, and overall nice looking, but that doesnt neccesarily mean awesome sound. Your room already has some natural diffusion to it, in its own unique way. Thats not bad, just different. Nobodies room is ideal brah.

Cheers for these tips! Unfortunately, both beds are too big to re-arrange in the room like the picture you posted, and the desk position is at the best position I can get it at. I will keep the tips in mind for those bass traps!

So, I'm still around. Yup. Just been working on my album, writing/practicing bass for the folk thrash metal band, taking care of my daughter, playing video games and what not. It was actually slightly difficult writing bass for thrash metal since I'd never done it before, but soon realized the macinations of thrash and got down to writing thrashy bass tunes.

The thrash that thrashed my thrashing thrasher.

In any case, my album is all mastered and done to the farthest I can/felt like going. It came to a total of ten songs and I have the album art being worked on. I'm aiming for a December release and I'll post it here in the forum when it's all done.

Modern Popular Country and Western Music

Why does this shit suck so much degenerated nuts? It's almost all just shitty pop rock songs about the opposite gender with an accent (sometimes not even an accent). Almost all the male singers sound exactly the same. They make unfailing references to cottonwood trees, honey, 'big 3' brand beers and whiskey...

Look, I'm a friggan hillbilly who lived in a forested valley with the closest populous being Amish my entire life until this year and I generally hate honey and Anheuser-Busch/Coors/Miller, am not an avid whiskey drinker and I don't constantly think about the opposite sex! This music isn't real country and western! It's written, performed and listened to by city and town folk who think they're country! I just want to slam a Waylon Jennings album over their heads and tell them how they forced me to do it! In fact, I don't think Johnny Cash died because of his wife's death. I think he saw this shit coming and got the fuck out!

A lot of songs sold on iTunes and Beatport have actually been released for free from the artists. My Name is Skrillex was free download, and I think you could have downloaded Knife Party's EP for free from their website at one point... maybe not, can't really remember.

BUT, his production skills are still incredible for a 13-year-old, and I'm thinking of his future projects. That track won't get too far due to lack of melody to give it rememberance and distinction.

Well, it's been a few days since my last obligatory "post pictures of your dicks" post. I've since come to the realization that persistence is the best means of taking full advantage of probability. On that note....

post pics of your dicks ;)

On a more serious note, I'm officially set in Oakland California. I found a job that pays really well, a place to live, and a means to pay for...

... actually I haven't made it common knowledge yet. I'm going the gender reassignment route. I'm open to discussion about it but I figure I'll just post info as people ask for it. I hate making a big deal about things in my life because it never seems like anyone gives a fuck anyways.

I've been pulling this shit out of my ass for the lulz for years but I've also been serious about it my whole life. I have a really eclectic sense of humor and I have no issue making a joke at my own expense but there's always been an underlying hint of seriousness in my gender bending.

I can assure you that I'm being serious. I just found a clinic in Oakland that offers services "on a sliding scale." Being broke as fuck gives me a huge advantage as it grants me free services.

Since getting to Oakland I've tried out escorting, marijuana farming, canvassing and just about anything else you could think of. My lifes been hella crazy but things are finally falling into place for me. I'm an open book. Like I said, ask a question and I'll reply. I'm done aimlessly posting shit in the hopes that people will listen.

Only good answer to a question like that.

But seriously, good luck. Pretty sure it's a bigger thing to go through than you made it seem with that quick post about it.

I don't care what anyone says. A cock joke is always a cock joke and everyone should be entitled to enjoying themselves some good old fashioned cock. Why would getting a sex change affect anything I post here on newgrounds?

Since most systems tend to smiley face EQs.

should i make the mids TOO loud (on neutral systems) on my tracks?

I was mixing to what sounds right on my new more neutral headphones, and kept on scratching my head as to why the drums were sounding too loud on speakers (under 200& apiece) while sounding just right on my cans. And i figured it had to be this issue, but DAMN is the difference the two ridiculous.

What I started doing the other day is chuck an EQ on the master when mixing, and bandpass around 100hz-15khz. I keep it disabled most of the time, but when I want to make sure the meat of my track will translate well on most systems, I enable it.

As for making the mids too loud, I don't know about that, but just make sure they don't get overrun by the highs (like you wouldn't already know that). Have you ever brought in a recent EDM track into your DAW and chucked a spectrum analyzer on it? The loudest part of the frequency spectrum in electro tracks these days is definitely in the low end. The mids and highs are usually pretty even (depending on the track, of course).

When I got my Yamaha MSP5s, which have a really good high end for monitoring, I'd get a track really loud without being squashed to hell and be like WTF THIS IS AWESOME I'M WINNING LOUDNESS WAR! Then I realised my highs were way too loud compared to the mids, and it sounded bleh on my headphones, and I'd imagine on most systems. In fact, when the mids are nice it definitely does sound better on my monitors, it's just that if most of it is up in the higher end, my speakers will hear it clearer than most systems.

The main thing is to make sure that the lead synth/vocals are clearer than anything else. When I do remixes for contests, I usually hear that my mixes have way louder vocals compared to most other tracks. But that's what people want to focus on: the vocals; not the complex synths or drum riffs I got coinciding with the vocals.

I do find it ironic though, that you're asking this question, coz I got two of your tracks in my iTunes library, French Poop Yummy and Jelly. The mids are really nice and thick and I'm like "how the hell did he do that?".
