Anyone else love Omnisphere's Burning Piano patch? I can't stop playing around with it.

Also as part of your initiation you have to drink 7 gallons of vodka and you must mention the word 'cock' at least once in every of your first 20 replies. Any questions?

Just heard it now, it's pretty awesome. One of my favourite pianos from Omnisphere is probably Frozen Piano Dreams. I must make a song with that sometime.

Omnisphere

Why did I not know this instrument exists? Jordan Rudess uses it... I must have it.

Checks price.

Yeah, I read about Omnisphere ages ago and its highly rated reviews. I can't really fork out $500 (or w/e it is) for it though.

I could... if I didn't want to eat for a month.

One day... maybe... hopefully...

Windows H8te

If you're one of the brave people who have taken the plunge and have gotten Windows 8, and found that the missing features are what bug you most, I've found this program particularly useful

Classic Shell

Restores things like the Start Menu button, and right click behavior for starters...

I got it because 7 will disappear and lose support faster than 8 will... because... it's older.

... and 8 is cheaper.

As long as it works, I'm happy. Even if it's got a lot of stupid gimmicky quirks that frustrate the hell out of me.

7's being supported until 2020, and last I heard, XP is still around (supported till 2014).

And also, I looked at the Skype home-page, does the "desktop version" download for you (I assume it's the one intended for XP / Vista / 7)

Just got my first ever pair of Monitoring speakers today and have them rigged up, a pair of Alesis M1Active 520USB! The great thing about them is that I got them B-stock for £50 off of the RRP on most other sites, they have a built-in USB sound card so you don't have to worry about forking out £75 for an M-Audio card to run them and when the speakers are at head-level, they make everything sound so much damn better than before (when I was playing & making everything off of T40 Gigaworks II).

I've been using it as my main OS for coming up on two years and I can't say I've regretted it. You just need to get past the annoyance of being a noob at it at first. There will be little things that seem hard to fix, but once you get over the fear of opening up a terminal to get a few things sorted every now and then, it's fine. Not sure if you'd like the current default desktop environment though, opinions are rather divided on it. Personally, I can work with it fine.

M$ will drop support for Win 7 soon. It's like right now if you ask for support in Vista, only the open communities can help you. And don't even mention XP (I have XP SP2)

Personally I move everything to Linux, even music production. FL studio and EWQL run quite laggy on Ubuntu but they work fine through Wine. The only thing I think people have to deal with in the dongles. I don't mind mine since I hack them but for some people who is fond with EastWest or Native Instrument stuff, this is the pain in the butt to install. I can always help out or send you my patches to fix the problem.

BrokenDeck, you can always try out KDE to get familiar with, similar to Windows Shell. The latest currently is 12.10, I suggest you get this version because the up coming 13.04 is Amazon ads built-in, even I hate this. Canonical starts to make me lose faith in Ubuntu. Now I prefer Arch Linux.
