Who doesnt hate America?

I always hear that all other country's hate America. Is this true? Are they're any country's that like America and thinks good about it?

Countries cannot hate. They are patches of land.

People however can hate the US (because I'm assuming you don't mean Canada and Mexico included), but, I'm not one of them.

When people say they "hate America," they're usually expressing a dislike for it's policies, actions, and leaders but not the entire population.

I have nothing personal against the US.

But the US is in the news often and it seems like it shows itself as better than everyone else. And sometimes other countries don't agree with the things USA does. Such as the war in Iraq, environmental issues like Kyoto, social security,...

But seriously, I don't understand it myself.

If the news media get alerted and it's something "shocking" they have to post it. A great number of americans watch the news and get worrying that whatever horrible thing that happened will happen to them next. Which then leads to people forming groups and getting pissy over something that'll probly never happen to them even if they lived 100 lives.

I don't hate the news, great show and a example of free speech. Still, they do their best to make a "shocking forcast" scaring everyone that the worst is yet to come over nothing. Which is why sometimes I hate the people I'm around.

For example: McCain and Obama race, who has gone through the campain without once getting insulted just because you believe one of them is better? I got called racist at least 4 times (not helping the fact that I'm in a college started by a african american).

Like many people have said, it's more of a problem with a particular government, which in turn is a reflection of its populace. In a democratic republic like the US, you can blame the people for the mistakes of its leaders as they chose that leader, and in the recent case, chose not to impeach.

Well, a lot of individuals hate us but that's beginning to change with the new administration. Particularly with his recent executive order shutting down Guantanamo and all other CIA "blacksites", as well as mandating that the U.S. Army field manual be the only reference for how to interrogate a POW.

Nobody except a few radical muslims truly hate the USA (America is the name of the entire continent...)

It's just that the USA is militairy and economically still the most powerfull nation on earth. However, thanks to eight years of George Bush, quite alot of nations have had their view on the USA altered in a negative way. Including mine. I mean, how long has the US army been in Afghanistan and Iraq already? Weren't they supposed to just overthrow the radical movements there and install a democratic system? To this day there is still no sign of peace there whatsoever.

Hopefully Obama will restore the old view of the USA.

Poland is generally quite friendly towards America and Americans, I have found. Much more than the other European countries. Actually, Israelis are generally quite friendly towards us too.

When I traveled through Europe the only person who insulted me because I was American was a drunken Irishmen, but it may have been partially because I was hanging out with several Brits.

I dont think anybody "hates" the USA. They just dont like politics and the way they handle things. Me being a Canadian ive always liked the USA as i feel quite safe by them but i do (or did) frown apon some of there choices.

I have strong doupts on that, under the Bush presidency, the military and economic strenght of the US has been significantly weakened. That Bush presidency is also at the base of the whole 'hate' towards the US, all this cow-boyesque way of working could just get political enemies, but I don't think we can say the world hates the US, they just consider it as a pain in the butt when it takes care of international buisness where they should not be concerned. Georgia per example.

Actually I admire democratic republic because I don't want to be a democratic parliment.

But like I've said many times on NG. Blame the person who commited the error(s) crime(s) etc and not the people who are associated (e.g. blame the politican and not the public)

I would agree with you. I live in America, and i dislike a lot of the people of America because of who they are, but most people from other countries take an overview of every person in a country just because of the things that the media hits. If there wasn't mass media like there is now, there would be a lot less controversy in my opinion.

Basically, you're saying: "if the media would shut up, the world wouldn't know about half the shit we do, therefor making us look better in the worlds eyes."
People hate USA because they saw USA invade 2 sovereign nations that were no threat to the USA in just 18 months. People hate the USA because we were all told by the USA leader (the guy that represents the USA) that if we didn't agree with what the USA was doing, that we were terrorist.
There are many reasons people hate the USA, but you can take solace in the fact that it's not Joe The Plumbers fault.
