Hi everyone! I posted this in another forum section, but I think it might be better suited here.

My name is Maggie and I am looking for a coder to hire for a block-type puzzle game which is currently in the works for an upcoming website (AS3). The site will not revolve around playing flash games, but we will be needing someone serious and open to a possible long term business relationship who is reliable and AVAILABLE (can't stress that enough) for this type of commitment. We expect the provider to abide by deadlines (you set deadlines yourself before beginning a project and notify me), be courteous and turn in clean, quality work. The person we hire will possibly be working on all the games we currently have in development for the site. We would like to only hire only one person. You do not need to have any graphic skills at all. No animation work is required. I will hire someone else to work on the basic animation we need. If you're capable of doing this yourself, please let me know.

The way this works is - I will be handling graphics and they will be handling everything else. Files will be exchanged between us periodically as the game progresses. More details on the project can be read here: http://magaly.newgrounds.com/news/post/2 53847

Concept art for the characters which will be used can be found on my website : http://www.margaritaramirez.com in the Portfolio > joyKILLjoy section. This is just concept work, not the style for the final game graphics.

Feel free to post any questions you have for me here or contact me using the information in that news post. If you know someone who does not use this forum, works with Flash and is looking for work, please feel free to forward me their contact information via e-mail as well.

Thanks y'all! :}{:

Man, I feel tempted to apply for this, your art looks really great. But I just recently started working seriously with AS3 and object oriented programming, although I think that I know it pretty well already I have yet to go through the whole process of making a game with OOP in AS3.

Consider me a backup if you like, feel free to contact me if you can't find anyone else.

I can't believe people aren't all over this :S

I felt I had to comment and give congratulations on such a beautifully illustrated and laid out site, nice work.

Thanks a lot! Can you e-mail me your contact info? My e-mail is in the news post here http://magaly.newgrounds.com/news/post/2 53847

I haven't had many replies but I think it might be mostly my own fault. This forum moves relatively fast and I haven't been bumping the topic in an attempt to avoid any suspicion of this being spam since I am new here and all. :{)

korded - Thank you, that's very nice of you!

When you say hire, that implies that you'll pay for work.

So what are you offering?

I am offering money? haha
I don't really understand your question. Payment details are in the news post linked in the second reply of this thread.

This guy is able, i sent him a link on MSN but he's not on right now. I know he doesn't have much on newgrounds but he's coding a 30+ hour RPG game for me, and is doing a fantastic job.

They want a contract and >18 and all that. I'm not sure if I'd recommend someone who is not that much into AS3 too (I'd end up doing all the tricky stuff for him probably :p).

That is, I skipped this for the same reason where instead I can't be bothered to do the uninteresting things. :p

magaly: there are really only kids here so I'd say it's unlikely to get what you're looking here compared to other forums (even though Newgrounds is more competent on average).

Ouch, my pride. Ha, well. Two things block me from applying.

Only 16.
I haven't worked with any online multiplayer games.

That alone, cuts me out. Sorry man.

You have some amazing artwork there.
But you're probably not going to find anyone here.
There's a possibility but don't count on it.

Well, a good group of programmers to check out could be the very programmers judging the Annual Tank Awards. (Scroll down) Although not all will even reply back, you could still shoot some by a private message and see if they're interested.

Just trying to help.

Yeah, I need someone over 18 because if a 16 year old signs a contract it is not legally binding in the US. The applicant would sign three contracts once they're hired so that would be a problem unless there is a way to get parental consent which is a huge hassle.

Adair - I think I mentioned this in my e-mail to you but I'll put it here for everyone else to be aware of it.

Server side scripting is not mandatory, but it is a plus. Right now my main interest is creating a functioning game. As far as scripting goes, that will most likely be taken care of by someone else because it is difficult to find someone who actually knows how to handle that and is also available for developing a full game. Something can always be worked out.

DawnofDusk - Thank you, I'll take a look. I'm weary of just sending notes to people here because this isn't really a freelancing portal and I'm sure they get fishy PMs all the time about the same thing. It might be difficult for them to take the offer seriously.

TutorialPoo - Thank you! I am not counting on finding someone here alone, but I figured I would try in case someone was capable and interested. I have ads on some programming sites and a couple of freelance sites as well.

I hope I didn't miss anyone, thanks for all the e-mails and messages. I'll try and check here more often.

I've got to say I'm a bit interested in this. Although I'm a bit confused. You mention a game about basic blocks and shapes, but point us to the concept art in your website which is people? I'm not sure though, I might have missed something there.

But anyway could you explain a bit more about this game? Maybe what the focus/goal in it is?
Thanks.

The concept art in my portfolio is so the applicants will have an idea of who they will be working with mostly. As stated in the news post, that's not the style I'll be using - it will be closer to the sketch at the end of the post, but my finished illustration work should give you an idea of polish and all that. There will be characters in the game however they will not be playable. They'll mostly be there for decoration. You won't have to worry yourselves on the graphical representations since the coder won't be doing any graphic work at all. Any further details I'd rather discuss via e-mail with people I think show promising samples. It's a long description and I doubt anyone would read it in the news post anyway. :D
