I'm thinking about getting an Iphone, and I was wondering how NG runs on it. Are there any problems or does it even work at all? My current phone jacks NG up to point where its almost unrecongnizable. I also call apon Tom to make a NG app.

What do you mean by an NG app? Perhaps a mobile version of NG, but I don't see what kind of an app you could make for NG.

Maybe NG should do the same kind of thing that YouTube did for the Wii and PS3's internet browsers. Have a small, non-intensive page that loads up different flash movies (and only movies, no games).

Is there a NG Mobile?
It could just be like a simplified version of NewGrounds, links to upload/view content, and access to the BBS. I'm going to study Computer Science next year, and hopefully get into Mobile Platform development.

Interested? Probably not. It's okay, I wouldn't be either. Just PM me

Are you already on an AT&T plan or are you going to change to them?

Personally I think AT&T is horrible and they really do screw you over with their data plan. If you want the same functionality but without a cell phone plan just get the iPod Touch.

I have AT&T, never had a problem with them. They charge you an extra $30 becuase of the data transfer. Other than that, its the same. I'm thinking that the NG app should be something like this.

I've been on NG a few times with Opera mini on my phone and my pda (which I believe is pretty much similar to the iPhone browser) It runs okay on my phone, but is a little slow and obviously you can't watch the movies, but it runs quite well on my PDA (which is more similar to the iPhone), I'd use it more often if it weren't so annoying typing on a screen using the stylus.

This is filler text.

on my iTouch, ng runs really slow and i can barely read any text, plus it loses the server a lot, making voting or posting hard because you have to keep reconnecting

How fast it runs on your iTouch depends on the strength of the wifi you're hooked into. On my university wifi it runs slower than a direct connection, but it's manageable. I can comfortably browse, post and mod from my iTouch.

You can post on the forums pretty well but you can't view flashes.

I also ask for a mobile version of NG!

the forum is great for the iphone, especially for lurking and checking on the progress of threads.
It's a little slow to respond to a thread and you might find yourself annoyed if you prefer to browse NG on multiple tabs at once. Although 3G is a perfectly acceptable speed for most things, long 20 or more posts pages of threads or those with lots of pictures take about a minute or two to load. And when i search the forum on a computer, I often use (Ctrl+F) or (Comand+F) to jump to words of interest.

mostly my own username to see if i was quoted

and the iphone is not very accommodating.

Unfortunately, both the original Iphone and 3g iphone do not support flash players. Making it impossible to view a large portion of internet content. Also, kiss the idea of voting and watching NG cartoons goodbye.

Despite this, I couldn't recommend the iPhone more.
It changes your life, having google maps with a gps in your pocket, being able to google on the fly, as a discrete mp3 player and being able to check your email everywhere. What about when the power or your internet goes out because of a storm, negligence or your router breaks? you're still able to have that emergency internet access straight from the fucking sky!

Complaints:
1) the camera sucks, but i suppose it's good enough. I've used photos taken with it on NG before.
2) AT&T is a pain in the balls. they bait and switch, overcharge, and have shitty customer service
3) my first iphone broke. and even though it was 500 dollars when i got it, AT&T and Apple try to pawn the responsibility of its repair on each other, giving you the run around. The iphone is relatively fragile. On my 3G iphone i have a bulky ugly case that keeps it safe but is obnoxious.
but these aspects are very overlookable.

Iphones are where it's at.

even though AT&T can suck my balls.

It runs fine on my iPod Touch - renders pretty fast and everything. That's using my uni wifi where I download at about 2mb a sec so yeah =P Not as if you can do much anyway, the keyboard isn't too bad if you tilt it horizontally but it's not as good as an actual keyboard.

I never have trouble reading on the iphone, because when you flip it sideways and zoom in you can still see like 600 pixels width worth of text at about a size six font. I Can hold the phone arms length away and still read it just fine. resizing is a snap, too. Larger format websites can be a pain however.

Iphones tap into the wifi too. And its very fast when leaching on a strong wifi signal, with pretty decent range. But the real bonus of the iphone is even when there's no wifi, you still have reasonably fast internet great for checking the weather, getting a bus route, or finding a number to a pizzeria in a neighborhood you are not familiar with.

Because my cell phone contract it up and I have US taxpayers money to burn.

What about the audio page, is it the same way as the flash portal?

Internets are better at night, your blotched skin desaturating like a putrid fly infront of the pale glow of the monitor. Perhaps some empty drink cans and takeaway boxes about, a full ashtray and a haze sitting around you, excrement encrusted clothing that you've been wearing for days and nights without removing- That's how internets should be done.

Because you can't just check on the forums in a public place in a matter of seconds for a matter of seconds. On a mobile makes it easy to access online in a public area.

I have an iPod Touch (which, apart from the phone aspect, is more or less the same thing), and frankly I never use it to go on NG if I can avoid it. It's just irritating, and the whole time I'm sitting there thinking "wow, this would be a hundred times better if I was using a proper computer".

Bottom line, if you're getting one mostly because you like the idea of using it for NG... don't.

Otherwise, it's decent (ish) for Facebook and other sites that have made iPhone-specific adaptations of their websites.

I've dowloaded the MySpace and Facebook application for my iPhone, and they're very nice. They're really convenient to use. I was actually thinking of creating a NG app for the iPhone, for fun, but the problem is, the Flash movies would have to be converted to avi or mov files, (since there is not a native Flash player for the iPhone) Also, the games would not work anymore.
