I don't care if people don't like Obama. I don't care if people don't support his policies. Those are reasonable positions to hold. The OP is a racist because he's complaining about what is happening to the land "conquered by his white ancestors." Now, the reason why I called him out as a bigot is simply this, why inject the racial aspect into this topic unless the OP is racist?

There is no racial element inherent in the topic. Gun control legislation is largely an issue of people arguing safety on one side vs constitutional rights on the other side. Very rarely does someone inject race into a racially neutral topic like this unless they are racist themselves.

The issue of a black man entering the White House is huge from a historical perspective. It has only been 40 years since blacks had finally obtained the right to vote. 40 yeas is a monumentally short in the context of human history. This is a major step forward in the history of our country. It is the proof that black people can now achieve anything whites can. There is still work to be done, but it is amazing how quickly things have progressed.

Beyond this though, you are absolutely correct that race should not be an issue. People should not have voted for or against him based on his race, and they should only support him based on their support for his policies.

Why would you believe Obama would be different on this issue then EVERY OTHER PRESIDENT since the embargo was instated? The President (especially first term) is going to pretty much have to temper a lot of his work through the will and desires of the public to get re-elected. Unless communism is out in Cuba and the Castros are gone, I can't see him lifting that embargo and having relations with that island.

The issue with this is a true assault rifle is way overkill for self defense, and with that much power you are likely to injure people not involved. Plus inside a house, an assault rifle just isn't as tactical.

Pistols on the other hand are great, shorter range, and are more tactical.

Noy sure on this one, but I do know he has a 700-900 billion dolar stimulus package in the works that would go to families making under 200k, small business, infrastructure, green technology, and state aid.

Yup, I believe we aren't getting out of this hole without spending money to decrease taxes, create jobs, foster business, build infrastructure, go green, make healthcare affordable... the list goes on.

Apart from the government and citizens digging a little deeper in order to get the money to do this, how else can we get this train back on the right track?

Also, by affordable education, I was focussing more on making college more accessible more than I was focusing on reforming the current educational system.
