Is it me, or does having 'white' in a cider basically warn of imminent shitness?
From what wikipedia tells me, it is mainly in the UK where the phenonemon of drinking cheap, high alcoholic cider in big bottles has escalated. For those of you who are ignorant (and fat and stupid) of this, this is when chavs (people with no taste) or just general pikeys buy massive litre bottles (see picture) of cider. The bottle is plastic like those big fanta ones, such is the lack of authenticity of the stuff inside. Basically, this is for the sole purpose of getting drunk easily and quickly. Most of these have 'white' in the title. Now I don't know about you, but knowing that cider is made from apples, the presence of 'white' is a little disturbing. It tastes like crap, I'm not even joking. I'd call it 'sweet', but that always implies something tasty. White ciders are acidic (also not good in the sour sweet way). Before anyone accuses me of snobbery or class disdain, I know plenty of people in the working classes who don't drink this stuff.
It just seems appropriate to me that cider with the name 'white' is the drink of white trash nationwide.
