Does anyone else always change their taste in music really quickly? I don't mean listening to a band, then deciding that you hate it for the next music fad. I mean listening to trance, and then finding yourself with a huge collection of Muse, and then suddenly getting into punk.
So, anyone else here change the genre of music they listen to often?

I do it often. I've gone from indie rock to hip hop and back again. Right now i'm really getting into techno and house.

Nope. I've steadily been listening to a scattered variety of bands and genres. I usually walk out of a CD store with some rock, electronica and classical. The occasional hip hop. It's always the same broad sweep of genres.

I found that my taste in music changed drastically when I found myself hanging out with a different group of kids in college as opposed to highschool.
I certainly listened to all of my old albums, but not with the same regularity, and for the most part I replaced a lot of them with the bands/genre that my new friends were into.
I feel like a lot of this was due to my change in personality as well - I was going from an angry, self-conscious teenager into a chill, self-confident 20-something. I just didn't relate to much emo music anymore, which I was huge into back in highschool (no I didn't dress like/act like an emo).

I actually did, once. I used to like Hip Hop, and related genres, long time ago. And suddenly, I switched to Heavy Metal, and almost all of it's subgenres... yeah.

Most of the time when my taste changes, it was preceded by a period of time during which I liked no music. I am currently in such a state. I switch from power metal to nothingness.
Sucks. It sucks because not much in my mp3 player makes me happy. I end up continuously listening to what I recently downloaded from NGAP.

When I was younger I really liked classic rock because that's all my dad ever listened to so I did too.And then I started likeing sublime and the original green day and stuff like that. And then I started to listen to metal, but that quickly passed. The I was really into the Beatles.
But now I listen to a mix of all of that stuff except for metal. I don't know why. So my music style didn't change too much, and it's basically the same as it ever was.

Do you like "He ain't heavy, he's my brother" from The Hollies? I fucking like that song. It's so full of meaning. Plus there's some great harmonica in it.

Meh I've always had a large variable music taste, often enjoying something in no way related to my taste, but I'll never listen to rap hip-hop or RMB, fucking balls

Yeah, my tastes changed very rapidly, actually. I used to only listen what was on the radio, then my cousin introduced me to Muse in like March of 07 or something and by May my iTunes had a complete makeover.

One of my friends did that. One year he was listening to 50 cent (this was a while ago), and I didn't see him all summer, and suddenly he's into Judas Priest.

See the bad influence you have on him? A few months without you and he now listens to decent music. Stop seeing him for another few months, and I wonder what great amount of goodness will happen...

Yeah. Every time I hear it, it reminds me of my dad because he would always sing it. I think he just liked saying "He's not heavy, he my brother"

I'm starting to get into instrumental music a whole lot more. I'm addicted to all of the instrumental Radiohead, NIN and UNKLE tracks out there. Also, I'm obsessed with accordion music also.

I might start listening to a band more regularly than normal, but I don't go from liking one style of music, to disliking it, and liking a completely new style.
My music taste has pretty much stayed the same since I was in middle school, except I have become more open to styles that I used to not like because I thought it was "cool" to not like them. Mainly rap music. When I was younger I always liked certain artists, like Snoop or Dre, rap that almost anybody can listen to, but I got over that and realized I enjoy a lot of rap music.
Lately I have started listening to The Offspring a lot again, and Hollywood Undead. A friend of mine also introduced me to this band called 3 Oh! 3, they are pretty rad.
I've been refurbished and reissued, prepackaged and precooked, decontaminated and deloused, but I still smell, sound, look and feel like shit. New to the video game forums?

Surely I do, but I like all the genres I've listened to, exceptionals a few. I take one genre at a time though, for maybe a week I listen to mostly only hiphop, the next heavymetal, the next folk music, maybe comedy a specific day, maybe some ambient DnB, differes as does my mood.

Not terribly, I've grown pretty content and comfortable with what I listen to, I think I've found the genere's of music that I like the most. But I consider myself open to new things, I've recently grown open to rap music and I appreciate some of the artist's works.
The stuff I normally listen to are along the lines like pop(japanese pop music, whatever random 60's-70's tune I come across that I fancy) Punk(The clash, black flag etc) Electronic stuff(Shoji meguro soundtracks, Etro Anime, Moby etc) or possibly alternative/grunge stuff and such.
Also some orchestra stuff, I adore Miyazaki soundtracks for Studio Ghibli films, and I'm also a big fan of Moon River by Henry Mancini.

Not so much, seeing as I listen to a wide range of different genres as it is. My collection of music is all over the place.
If anything, I'm consistently checking out newer and unheard of bands 'n such every week to broaden my music library. And sometimes I'll find a band with a specific genre and then really focus on that genre for a while (such as Shoegaze, which happened not long ago).

I switch back and forth between relaxing, depressing, indie rock and super happy, hyper ska.

I used to be one of middle school classic rock white knighters- (hurr rap? where's the C?). but nowadays I listen to everything. My music collection ranges from jazz to metal to gangster rap to the weird song I heard on that commercial yesterday. I have no idea how people pledge to one genre anymore. There's too much good stuff out there and nowadays it's easy to discover and download.

This.
I think it came to that because of my father. I grew up listening to his old classic rock and blues albums, and I loved them.
It wasn't until I was about 16 that I started to even listen to anything that was made within a decade of the current time.
I still listen to some classic rock bands, but I really got into Electro, Indie, and whatever the Flaming Lips are when I was around 16.

Well, I got into classical rock pretty suddenly, and then just kinda fell off it after I stopped haning with certain people. I also had a punk phase.

I try to increase the amount of genres I like, rather than just changing my mind on them. Recently I rediscovered all the 80's music my mum used to play when I was a kid, so you can't really call that a change, just a reawakening. I recently acquired some jazz, which is mainly to play whilst revising, but I like that quite a bit now.

Nope. As a composer/producer, I have to listen to what I can or my songs will most likely stink. So I've listened to techno, house, classical, tribal, film score, rap, rnb, jazz, trance, dance, reggaeton, reggae, rock, metal, ambient, ambient trance, new wave, videogame, salsa, waltz, and I think that proves my point.
