I think that was an appropriate description. Even if a person CAN take a beating to let a child wear themselves out doesn't mean they SHOULD. What does that teach a kid? That actions don't have consequences? That you can wail on someone without them stopping you?

It was absolutely a straw man. I'm not saying the teachers shouldn't have acted; I'm saying that there is no relation between wailing on someone (which requires intent) and fighting out of panic (which is instinct). I agree Evelyn needs to learn appropriate behavior for the world she lives in, and with maturity and guidance she will. All I'm saying is give her the chance to reach that point.
