What is the deal with all of this shape spam crap on coming in like every five minutes. All it is doing is clogging up the portal with crap animation, and wasting my time. The first time it was sort of funny, but now, its just stupid with all the copycats. Anyone else agree?

They should have segragation between good flash and bad flash cause im getting tired of watching things that waste the time in my life.

Very good point. There are very few artists who can submit quality animations anymore. And by quality I don't mean as good as Waterlollies and the like, but animations made by people who actually worked hard on their project and put a decent amount of time into it to make it interesting.

I find it ironic that there's outrage about this yet people love derivative video game humor and other non-original things.
But here's the thing, even though I'm not crazy about the video game stuff, I tolerate it, because other people have the right to like it. That's whats great about Newgrounds. Everyone has the right to post what they want.

I totally agree! Madness and Clock Day are two of the most overused things i've EVER seen! Although I dont like the videos mentioned in this topic, I have no right to tell people they can't submit them... and I will keep on watching, reviewing, and giving pointers to all the videos I happen to come by.

They are... very interesting. I can see how quickly it would get old, but then I remember the days of "Mario in the Matrix" when every other flash submission was a parody of the Matrix with Mario. OH! And who could forget the "series" where two characters would slowly move across the screen and kiss? Those were beyond awful... Uhg.

I'm not taking any sides but some people could be crappy at first, yes but if they learn their lesson, soon enough they would improve. It's like a cycle.

What the hell do you mean wasting your time? If you feel its a waste of your time then don't go in the portal and look at them. Or use your common sense and avoid them. I bet you're sitting there going "OMG! PENTAGON N' STAR! WHAT COULD THAT BE!! Oh, more shape spam :C What a suprise". Seriously, they're not making you click them and 'waste your time'.
There are alot of shape animations here on newgrounds. But it's true that it only recieved this much attention after two of them made it to the front page. I can see alot of points being made in those animations made by Stamper, Johnny Utah, Egoraptor,...
Like how easy it is to tell a story just by adding a voice and making a shape go up and down. Pointing out the importance of storytelling and sound/voice acting.
It also brings out the point that they can just put any kind of animation they want on the FP. even a flash with just a blank frame. If you look at it this way I can see how it can seem disrespectfull for people who put alot of time and effort in their work.
But if you look at it from a conceptual point of view. There is alot to talk about.
