if there not copy rigthed then people can see the thing for free, therfore the maker of the thing gets no money for the people buying there music or people buying a rigth to use there music for amv's and so on.

they should take the lawsuit and fight it arguing that copyright law is outdated and no longer relevant in our hybrid society in which people should be allowed to add value to a pre-existing work and distribute it without the author's consent so long as no money is being generated by the editor for aforementioned distribution.

I have a pretty good feeling that Youtube's best interest is making money especially in these hard times so blowing money on legal fees isn't a bright idea for them. They'll kick back and let the "screw the man" college crowd fight that battle.

their website will be used less if there is a ban on copyrighted audio included, hence generating less traffic and causing less hits per page, and Youtube will LOSE money. They are better off fighting this thing, we need sucsessfull mainstream companies to lobby for what the general population wants since our voice is not loud enough and our expendable cash is significantly less.
