I dislike sleeping. 2009-01-09 02:05:20 Reply

WHY?

Because night is the only time that I actually get some damn peace to chill out and do what I want to do, which is relaxing, listening to some music, reading a book, maybe eating a snack, and going on NG. The daytime is filled with people wanting me to do stuff, or other obligations that I have to fulfil.

So basically, the only time that I get to myself right now is the time that I should be sleeping. This has resulted in me getting very little sleep as of late, but I'd happily sacrifice the sleep for some quality ME TIME. I like me time. I dislike sleeping.

It would be awesome if I could just naturally stay awake 24/7 without needing sleep or feeling tired.

I totally agree, I'd love to be able to be on NG at night. But my parents won't let me. Damn.

Why aren't you on MSN anymore?

Dope up on coffee.

I heard that if drink 100 cups your whole body accelerates and all the molecules move faster, resulting in what you would perceive as time slowing down.

I only use sleep to speed up my day. I've gotten into the habit of sleeping 10am-6pm, when nothing I'm interested in is going on. I'd much rather go out at night with friends or by myself than go out in the day. Even if I just sit here on NG all night when no one is fucking on, I'm happier than being here posting at 2pm.

Perhaps you should only focus on mandatory parts of your life, and set some boundaries for yourself when you do have a little free time?

I would pick the days I have the least stuff I must get done and take the phone off the hook, or something along those lines. :)

Sounds like a plan... I tend to be somehting of a people-pleaser, though... so if somebody really wants me to do something, more often than not I'll do it (unless it's something ridiculous or something that just takes advantage, in which cse I'll tell them to fuck right off).

I love staying up late just for this very reason.
With the peace and calm of night, I can have the time to do precisely what I want without distractions. But as of late I haven't been able to do what I want due to distractions. I'm thinking of setting up a loose schedule for me time to do precisely what I want without the distractions of newgrounds and instant messaging.

I do my best homework/studying/essay writing at night. I just find that when everyone is asleep it gives me the ability to focus more...whereas if it's still a decent time of day, I find myself getting distracted via chatting or otherwise.

I complete understand how you feel. During the day my life consists of others telling me what to do

do this, do that, drive here, pick this person up, bring them to this location, come back here, ETC

As soon as 11:30 hits, its calm, peace, and quiet, and I love it.

NEVR, you're like me, but with the attention span to write out that much at two in the morning.

Okay, at least our sleep schedules are alike.

I second that comment on you watching a wee bit to much futurama.

Back to the main subject. It's hard to get your own moment in time unless you are rich enough that you can live a happy life on your interest in the bank alone. Though, if you know how to manage your money and ride the stock market, right now is actually a good time to keep an eye out for some companies. Anyway. Everyone will want everyone else to do something for them at some point in their life. Rather it be to save the world, or it be to flip a pancake in the morning.

I used to love sleeping, but now i constantly want to stay up and do whatever i want to do. If humans didn't need sleep, the world would probably be overpopulated, heh. I can't really recommend much, but like i think someone else already said, try to prioritize everything to where it fits you comfortably. I'm sure you already do this, but there is always something else you can take out or put in to the jar filled with sand ;).

One day, people wouldn't need sleep at all. In the meanwhile, you're going to need it at one point or another in time.

This too will pass.

Actually, I live in the UK, and it's 8:00am here now. I haven't slept all night, and now thanks to Kurt-1's thread, I'm now sipping on a scotch, too.

Quality me time, bro.

I'm the same exact way. I live with a family of 5 so the only time I can quietly relax and know that no one will bother me is at night. I love sleep, but I also love peace and quiet. It is also the only time I can get any work done because there are so many distractions during the day.

Lately I've been going on walks at night. I bundle up in my jacket, make some tea and just walk around the empty roads. It's incredibly peaceful. And usually a friend or two will come along just so it isn't too sketchy.

I think I would love to get a night job. Get paid more money, for a less demanding work environment. Plus there is something comforting about working at night.

Man if only I lived in a world where I could stay up until 4 in the morning, sleep until noon, rinse and repeat. Life would be lovely and all, but it'd get boring. I think it's better the way you have it now because you can appreciate the time you have for yourself. Finding ways to create more 'you' time can result in more sleep time.

How you find it is your business. At least when you do sleep, dream of me.

You're the only one that seems to have a problem with this thread. Stop whining.

Anyway, that's one of the good things about having trouble getting sleep, you can stay up at night to have some time to relax and do something you enjoy. Of course coffee can help as well, I drink it all the time to keep me from feeling sluggish when I haven't had much sleep. I've always been a night person myself.

That's the catch 22: staying up late (or in this case all night) means that I feel more tired during the day, so I have to either sleep at strange times or else take a nap. Right now it's not such a problem, but when lectures start on Monday, it might get a little more tricky.

Still, hopefully when lectures do start, all my friends and flatmates will have more work on too, so I might just naturally get some more peace and quiet then anyway. Fingers crossed.

How you find it is your business. At least when you do sleep, dream of me.

Always, my good friend. <3

On days when I don't have classes, like now, I make my bedtime deadline at 4AM. I don't stay awake deliberately. I do it because of my personal problems. (Loneliness, sometimes eating junk food late at night, etc.)

Also, here's a Wikipedia article on the subject. :/
