i dont like the way everyone's jumped on this guys case about being able to animate but not draw. being able to animate isn't necessarily the next logical step after being able to draw.
a good animator is someone who can envision how things move in a realistic and/or artistic manner and then put it on paper (or in this case, flash).
being able to draw is a separate skill which i shouldn't have to explain.
to use an example, someone who is good at animating might only be able to draw a crude looking person but then animate them walking in a very fluent way. but then someone who is good at drawing might be able to draw a near-lifelike person but then have serious trouble moving them at all.
speaking from experience i can animate a lot better than i can draw, and that has always been the case. some people might say that's not hard given my drawing abilities, and some people might say it doesn't matter because i manage to cover it up. either way, that's not really the point.
i haven't looked at any of this kid's work so i'm not saying this applies to him. but my advice to him is keep animating with your own drawings. you'll slowly get better and the fact that you can't draw that well will just mean you have to animate better to make up for it, and at the end of the day you will be a better animator because of it.
