NG Digg Team!

Tom approached me about looking into setting up a Newgrounds Digg team. Basically we're looking for some people to post a Digg about something new on NG, Flash, Audio, etc, and then we'd have member of the NG Digg team Digg it to try and boost its visibility.

So for starters we will need some head NG Digg Team members that are familiar with how Digg works and know how to properly post Diggs. Once a new Digg is posted, probably in the early morning if possible, the NG Digg Team poster would submit a link to it here for the NG Digg Team members to go Digg it.

Hopefully by doing this we can help drive more traffic to the better content on the site and give our Flash and Audio artists more exposure.

So we will start with applications for the NG Digg team and I will then assign you a member #, maybe some kind of rank, etc.

To apply to be a poster leave a link to your Digg profile, how much experience you have with Digg, how often you could post a Digg for NG, how early you could post it in EST, etc.

Really interesting idea Wade. I think it would be a great way to boost traffic here. But I was wondering...
I don't currently have a Digg profile, but I know how it works and have visited it on a number of occasions, but I'd still like to be a part of this. Could I be on the upvoting team, (after creating an account of course) or are you looking for already experienced Diggers?

Anyone who applies will be a member and welcome to help upvote. We may have limited slots for posters, but maybe if we get a bunch of posters I can PM different posters on different days to post things so it doesn't look like just one digg member is spamming a bunch of NG stuff. :P

Or we'll have some regular posters, and some side posters. Once they complete their post they will link to it here for the upvoters to upvote.

Seriously kids, this is a SERIOUS EFFORT TO HELP NG!!! If some of you are going to try to join this just to join yet another club and not actually be part of the effort, I strongly advise you don't even try here. This more serious then your average club, so follow rules and be helpful or like Wade says, bad things will happen to you. :)

Sorry if I typed Digg too much, haha. You can join, but you need to set up a digg.com account. Basically someone will post about something on NG (like a news story) and the digg team will all DIGG it. The more Diggs something has the more visible it becomes to other Digg users.

I would gladly help out. I'm somewhat familiar with Digg, haven't been as active as I use to be back in early 2008.

Digg Profile

My first account was created in February 2008. I have done a lot of digging and comenting, but never actually posted a Digg. I did do something similar for this literature board though. I wrote up a short story on their forums, which the admin then linked to using Digg.

I usually don't go online until 4:00pm (9:00pm if working) on weekdays. I'm on the computer daily, so it isn't much of a hassle for me to visit and Digg frequently.

Well...I just do that casually....I think that if the WHOLE NG community acts as a Digg...

Special "Points" can be rewarded to those individuals....and not just a TEAM.

Kinda like the Whistle Status.

I think it's a fantastic idea! I also know that having people check up on here is going to be a rather bad way to keep people informed.

If I may suggest.

Cool list, the free mailing list

Using a free mailing list like this (or perhaps if NG has such capability using that) and letting members sign up for it would be far more beneficial then expecting them to come check up on this thread every week or whatever. Let's face it, that's not a good way to keep people.

With a mailing list like this, posters (all posters would be given account details so they can write the posts) can send out an email to users who would then simply have to click on the link and dig. Instantly notified on their own turf.

After that really this thread becomes only as a recruitment center, and keeps things less reliant on it. With Wade's newspage getting loads of views having a sign up link there with a mailing list, also explaining what the Digg team is for would have AMPLE more effect.

With that, i'm in.

I had been on Digg a good portion of the summer, but I have not visited there in a long while. I didn't participate in how the site works either, but I know how to do most everything on it.

I visit digg religiously, and haven't had the best of luck in submitting, but we can't all be like mrbabyman, can we?

I'm not so sure how much exposure digg will give to newgrounders...
Digg visitors don't seem the type to frequent NG...
They prefer tech sites and 4chan, so... yeah.

I think it is good idea, but hard work too.
It is hard to know what is on top in this day and what people like.
But in NG is people who can do this.
