It was shut down in early 2007, after Bedn was once again arrested for being an idiot (robbery, drunkenness or some shit like that) and could no longer afford to support it.

It looked decent back then, combining nicely with Newgrounds's contemporary theme. Although by today's standards the site would be a bit outdated.

The Art Forums has kind of evolved into a substitute until the real Art Portal comes.

I just liked the idea of the Art Forum because we're going to get tons of crappy pictures made in MS Paint. Unless it's like the Audio portal where a group of Art Portal Mods judge a piece of art before the public can see it.

I don't make art, but I would love to see an art portal. Just like I like watching flash and downloading free music, I would like to be able to see the great artists work of this site.

And the Art Forum is great, but it's hard to find good pictures there. You have to keep clicking random threads hoping to find something good.

That'll come with a lot lighter prejudice I think.

An animation can be bad if it doesn't move, or if it moves too much.

Music can be bad if it's too boring or too annoying.

But Art is really versatile. I'll be interested to see how they filter out spam when it's an art form.

Maybe the Spam simply won't be featured...and with the review system, it'll be easy to spot the good stuff standing out from the bad.

Just like in the other two Portals.

People who are less artistic could get the hook up on 46x46 icons, sigs, headers...anything they needed.

Plus, like I said earlier, I'd start an ArtPortal exclusive web-comic. Others might do the same.

Luis said in the NG Sketchbook Tour Topic that it should be out late March.

HOPEFULLY by late march, the Art Portal will be running so that even those artists who perhaps would be heavy contributors to the Art Portal can have a place in the project. So that being said, if you managed to get into 2008 with no entries to any of the portals (flash/audio), dont expect to get in to 2009.
