I would try it, my hardware is good to go, better than his anyway (video card is old as SHIT)

the only problem is I have DSL and that shit is TOO FUCKING SLOW to download anything. a 10 minute video on gametrailers takes 40 minutes to and hour so think how long it would take to download an OPERATING SYSTEM!

From reading ragingfred's post I've just remembered something about Windows 7, if you're going to download it MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHICH NETWORK/AUDIO/WHATEVER DRIVERS YOU'RE GOING TO BE DOWNLOADING. Most drivers DO NOT work from XP/Vista because of a completely different OS, my friend wreckages tried to download all the drivers he could and THEY ALL FAILED.

There is jackshit available to download right now on the internet, and the drivers you all probably use will almost likely NOT WORK. I've been lucky and my driver was compatible with Windows 7 too for some reason along with others.

So I'll say this again, DO NOT DOWNLOAD WINDOWS 7 IF YOU WANT INTERNET. Don't even download it when the BETA is released because there still won't be any available then, do it when you see drivers start appearing for your network card and windows 7.

Now, some of them won't work, and you'll have to go into the CD and manually install the drivers by finding the correct Windows Installer files, but you can find just about everything you need on that disk.
