We are having New Years Day lunch at my house right now with family.... and my Grandpa happens to show up, and ask if I put up the computer chair that I got from him for X-mas... Thing is, it was a kinda cheap swivel with mesh... when I wanted a nice comfy Executive chair. So I returned the gift to OfficeMax... but now, I don't know what to say to him.

What's a good way of telling him that I returned the PC chair without him feeling hurt, or whats a good excuse to get him off my back?

You could say "not yet," and then buy a nice one between now and the next time he asks, and say that "[name] gave me a late Xmas gift, and well it was better than that one you got me, no offense, so I returned it."

Or say that now and hope he doesn't want to see your "new" one.

Though spinning a web of lies can result in people being more hurt than normal. You could just bite the bullet on this one and come out with it.
