I'm currently making a rather violent flash game, and was wondering what people think of it so far. Also, I'd like to hear some ideas for what you might want included. Also, whether you think I should redo the grenade explosion because I'm not sure it fits in that well.

At the moment, the enemy will slowly run at you; there are 3 deaths so far, which you can cause by using the knife, cleaver or sword, the deagle and the grenade. So far, I've only animated the death for if the grenade blows up right next the the enemy.

Controls:

Arrow keys to move.
S to attack/use.
R to re-spawn enemy.
1 for Knife
2 for Meat Cleaver
3 for Sword
4 for Deagle
5 for Grenade

I like the concept. The graphics are great. What I really like about games is when they have a crap load of weapons to choose from. It keeps it more interesting.

I was planning on doing more. But for now I'd rather get the other stuff working. I will add in plenty more later.

good animation and fun to play. A few things though that could render your game better.

Larger map, more weapons, enemy attacks and stuff like that. =]

That's good because all those things are coming! I've only just begun. I plan on having waves of enemies.

What do you think of the explosion animation? Think it needs some fire? More fine detail like the smoke with the deagle shooting?

Don't take this badly, but the crouching animation looks a little.. awkward. To be blunt, it looks like he's about to take a rather large poo. The weapons are great, especially the effect of the bullet streaking through the water. I'm sure it's just temporary, but the running animation is much too fast for how slow the character is actually moving. Good job!

loved it! though i think everything needs to be... smaller, i felt very cramped when a enemy was on screen!

Yeah, I had the same thought about the crouching. If you mean the running of the enemy then yes that is temporary.

The problem with making it smaller is you can't see the graphical detail so well. But I'll look into some ways of fixing it.

Pretty good for a demo, needs a vcam and a few other things. FPS may havto be increased to 24-30 for smoothness(assuming you didnt increase it that much). Gameplays good, graphics for violence are also good.

whatever it is your on finish it up quickly.(Project of course)

VCAM will be introduced later once I've sorted the basics of the engine. FPS is already on 30. And thanks.

It will probably take me longer than it should because of school work (A Levels), but I'm trying to work on it as often as possible.

Small update.

There are points now.
Green bar = health.
Red bar = "BloodLust" - when full, you can perform a special execution move (haven't animated any yet).
Blue bar at bottom = XP bar.
Circle in corner shows current level - I'm definitely going to change it - but I'm not sure how I can incorporate that part into the HUD - any ideas?
Any other thoughts?

Looks pretty cool, one thing I'd maybe recommend is to work in blocking, that way it isn't so much about button mashing. If you were up to it, I'd also say some basic enemy AI, unless they are to be just a bunch of mindless drones to slaughter.

Cosmetically, I think you should change up the rain patter a little. I'm guessing the movieclips aren't placed randomly; I'd consider duplicating them with random x/y coordinates (restricted to the ground of course), maybe lighten them up so they aren't so thick and heavy looking and lesson the amount of patter at any given time.. and to take it even further, maybe even 2 or 3 different animations duplicated at random.

I may try to include blocking - should be pretty simple. By AI for the enemies, what exactly do you mean? What options would they have? To be honest this game is about slaughtering enemies ;) but I'd like to add some AI if it improved it. What kind of AI do you mean?

The is the same animation but staggered and randomly placed (but manually). Your idea is much better and I don't know why I didn't think of it, because the rain is done in a similar way.

Hah, if it's just about slaughtering everything then no worries, it's fine as is. In games where you'd think the enemies would know better than to just run into a fight swinging until they get beaten down though, then it would be worth addressing maybe. I meant maybe there being a chance they could dodge a swing of the knife or duck when the gun was drawn on them, things like that.

About the rain patter on the ground, for sure go with duplicated clips placed randomly, little considerations like that can really help out in terms of realism and enjoyment.
