Guys like RubberNinja, st1k, jt-dirge and The-titan have been posting year-end retrospectives.
JakBaronKing made some great end-of-year shout outs to his friends here on NG. It's a great post and will make you reflect on your own friendships and stuff.
Rucklo made a song for the drunks.
Kazm0, Lazyfeet, blackduckie and McBean have posted resolutions and goals for the new year.
My big resolution for 2008 was to finish Castle Crashers and MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. It's even back at #1 on the XBLA charts!
My big resolution for 2009 is to BE THE BOSS.
We have an unprecedented number of large-scale projects with the potential of launching in 2009. Many have been a long time coming, way too long in my opinion. While we are but a small and dedicated team with limited resources, there have still been miss-steps, misdirected focus and straight up bad luck along the way. I hold myself personally accountable for most of that, like the dude in The Da Vinci Code who whips himself.
I'll still release some games of my own this year, but my main priority is to make sure everything else gets done. There is a much bigger vision for NG that has existed and evolved since the launch of the Flash Portal in 2000, and this SHOULD be the year that it finally reveals itself.
The impacts of this economic downturn paint an uncertain future for a lot of people, but NG is built to be eternal. One hundred years from now, when civilization looks to archive the dawn of the Internet, they can either find a bunch of stupid video bloggers on YouTube, or they can find the AMAZING SHIT that's being produced by the community here on NG. That page is still under construction, btw, and isn't anywhere near the full scope of NG's 2008 history. And maybe SHIT won't be a bad word in 100 years but history is on its side.
Over the past decade, NG has been the cradle of the now-massive Flash gaming scene and birthplace of the collab. We've witnessed the beauty of what one person can accomplish, but also the power of teams. As a collective goal for 2009, I want this to be the year that we capture the eyes of the rest of the web, and not just for being "EDGY" and "EXTREME", but for being hands-down better than everyone else. Those are big words, but it's good to have goals, right?
So what are YOUR goals and resolutions for 2009?
