Compared to 1998 which was 10 years ago? I don't think so. 2008 was NOT a great year for gamers. It was a good year, better than 2007 by far, but it certainly wasn't a GREAT year for gamers. 2009 might be better for gamers, and as for 2010 or 2011, the PS3 will probably dominate this console war. However I'm still pulling for the Nintendo Wii.

Kojima wanted to be a movie director, but he turned to games instead. Good choice, in my opinion. Who knows; the series could get movie-ized eventually. They certainly have enough people willing to see it, whether it's good or bad. Like Twilight.

Theoretically, all games are movies, except you control most of the script. Of course, the producer has to step in and say "you must watch this cutscene" every once in a while.
