In light of the new year coming up, future regrets, mistakes, choices, come to mind. They make you think of your past regrets, mistakes, and choices you've already made.
I am no different of course. Today at dinner, scenes of my past ran through my head. And the phrase 'what if' popped up, more than a few times. And I wondered, if there were any huge 'what if' moments you NGers had. And if so, what they were. What choice you made, the result of the decision, what you would do differently given the chance, and the expected outcome from the altered decision.
My biggest 'what if' is from elementary school. When I left my old town, to move to a new one. In my old school, I was rather popular and I had wonderful friends. I wasn't shy at all, and I was a great conversationalist for my age. When I moved, that all changed, people picked on me, I lost my confidence, I wasn't able to make great friends, and I suck at talking now. I stutter like crazy.
So I was thinking, what if I hadn't moved? Would I have still grown up to be the stuttering mess that I am now? Or would I have been a completely different person? Would I have kept all my friends? Would I be more talkative? More confident? Of course, thinking about the person I think I would have been if I had stayed in my old town, is...rather depressing. Considering the person I am now.
