If I asked you to pit which country has made the better music in the past 60 years, who would you vote for? - and when you so decide, back it up, which bands or solo artists have personally made you choose which country.

As for me, I'm going with England - due to the main reason, I love bands, and over the past years I feel English bands such as Iron Maiden for example have had a bigger impact than other American bands. However - I do think that America has better solo artists, I can't choose any on the spot, but there better than most English ones.

Now you.

Everyone knows the best artists came from Germay.

Bach, Mozart, Rammstein, etc.

I'd say English. Certainly not for any kind of patriotic reasons, but you can't deny the importance of bands like The Beatles. Even though I only really like one of their albums.

Wasn't there a music artist that went on about how it didn't matter where the fuck you lived and it was immature to compare one nation to the other in a "THIS ONE IS BETTER THAN YOURS!" kind of way?

I'm sure there was.

I'm going to have to go with England because over the last 60 years they have churned out The Who, The Beatles< The Rolling Stones, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, and U2 just to name a few. As well as the modern bands of bloc Party Cold Play Muse and some others that I can't really put my finger on.

While the U.S. had it's hayday during the eighties which ushered in "hair metal" which I really hate, but the nineties brought us grunge and Nirvana, Collective Soul, Pearl Jam, and Sound Garden as well as Mega Death and Anthrax for the thrash metal age. We also had actual good rap music during the eighties and early to mid nineties, which consisted of real problems in the world unlike their modern counterparts who only talk about how much money they have or their hoes.

Also Queen isn't an English band necause Freddie Mercury is from New Zealand or South Africa. So they're a part English band.

I'll post something on more modern American music later. So TTFN

It's late at night, and to be personally honest - I'm not going to pick at your previous posts, show you what I'm talking about, then start the same post over again. If you're smart enough, which I presume you are, coming from your posts, you'll re-read what you've posted and maybe we'll leave the thread what it's original purpose was made for, debating which country had possibly made 'better' music in the past 60 years.

For the record, I'm not saying one country IS better than the other, I've gave both country's a lovely evaluation for both, and if it makes you happy, I love American and England, or better yet next time I'll make a topic saying "my country has better music than yours" - which is the point you think I'm making.

I would go with England as well.

The prog rock era started and peaked in England - Genesis, Gentle Giant, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Yes, Jethro Tull...

Not to mention The Beatles, the Who, the Animals, the Kinks - all the major forefathers and members of the great golden age of rock.

But then again rock is American made, and if it wasn't for American acts like Elvis and his blues-based forefathers, these bands probably would never have existed, or at least not in the format that they did.

Not to mention the US has also had some great bands: Allman Brothers, Grateful Dead, Crosby Stills & Nash (although it's part Canadian too). And they spawned the grunge era, which I personally like a lot, especially Soundgarden. And then there are other American groups that have pushed rock to a different level, like Primus and Phish.

So it's tricky, but I would give the cup to Britain because of my affinity for the progressive rock era.

I think you missed my point so I'll spell it out in bold:

YOU HAVE TO BE A FUCKING MORON TO BOIL THE ABILITY OF MUSICIANS DOWN TO WHERE THE FUCK THEY CAME FROM.

You really do have to fail hard at life and to contribute country of origin to musical success is like contributing alcohol consumption to amount of quality literature written. It's absurd, and a waste of time. The only reasoning I can think of for a topic like this is to, in an obscure fashion, say one country is better than the other. If hard-pressed, the best I could say is each country does have it's unique styles in music which even then is retarded because country of origin (in the Western world) barely, if at all, affects musical capabilities.

What the fuck do you want from him?
No one is judging which country is better. Discussing on which country produced better musicians is quite interesting actually.

Re-read what you just said and consider what it would mean if a conclusion was made that one country produces much better users than the other.

Where are all these ideas coming from? there is no conclusion, just one simple opinion, or two! like I made, "Americans have better solo singers" - "English have better bands" - fair is fair and all that, what is your problem with those statements? No one is concluding that one nation is far better.

It's the British who usually use these threads do bash America.

This is typically true.

I'm bashing the topic poster.

... for an opinion.

Wow.
