I'm wondering how many Newgrounders are Japanophiles.

I mean the type of people who watch anime atleast once a week, Think pocky doesn't taste like compressed saw-dust covered in welfare chocolate, and debate the fact Anime is not a genre it is a medium for animation and has multiple genres within it.

As my sig can probably tell you I am one of the people mentioned above. So tell me what you think, Do you hate Japan? Do you hate people who hate Japan? Do you hate people who like Japan? Do you like Japan? Do you think anime is overrate and pretensious? Do you think it's the best thing to happen to T.V.?

Tell me! Oh and TL;DR: Discuss Japan shit.

I think there is an Anime club in the Clubs and Crews section, where you could talk about all this fun stuff. I'm not sure how mods view it in General though.

I find the widespread fascination with Japan a little irritating, but I'm easily irritated.

I agee those card related animes made for the sole purpose of sellnig more cards is nonsensical.

Also if you find certain animes confusing you probably haven't looked around for some of the better ones. Then again it could just not be your thing.

I don't really dislike Japan, I'll admit straight up that I watch anime more than just once a week. But i'm not really into much else about the country, I don't like the food nor do I think it's superior to anywhere else in any shape or form. I just like the animation and music most of the time.

So as much as people like to think, I am not a Japanophile.

Well, some of my friends on Steam like their shows, and games, but thats it. Hell, they even watch the subtitled version instead.

As for me, I like Asian chicks. But thats it, unless there is a good game made from there. I used to like their shows, but not anymore thanks to good old USA.

I don't find any part of the Japanese culture appealing. I don't watch anime, I think the music is ridiculous and very very few of the chicks can be considered as hot.

There is nothing you can name that is more delicious and awesome than Subway.

Yeah so basically you mean Weaboos. I'm a bigger fan of video games than I am with the culture of Japan and all that stuff; though I do watch anime and own a couple imported DVDs.

Well, that's a given, but that doesn't make me a japanophile.

Japan, your thoughts.

Apparently a very xenophobic and conservative culture, which usually aren't things I like about a culture, and Japan is in that, not an exception. I like anime, but I'm not a "Japanophile", nor are most anime fans.

There's a taxonomical difference between a Japanophile and a Weeaboo. You sound like a weeaboo to me.

I don't tend to consider myself a "weeaboo": I don't eat pocky or regularly buy Japanese stuff. Compared to a lot of people here, however, I just might be a bit of a Japanophile. I watch certain anime (it's about time for me to push Gurren Lagann again, seriously, that show was fucking awesome), and I enjoy certain anime-styled Flash animations (such as:

). Oh, and then there's the video games, which are sometimes quite fun to play. But I don't go around yelling Japanese words that I only half-understand like some of these weeaboos (I called my brother "baka" once when I was 9, but that's about it), and I sure as hell don't wish I were Japanese. My relationship with the nation of Japan is purely business, and business is good.

Am I an amerophile or a eirophile for liking American hip-hop, or Irish folk? Am I a pedophile for liking Lazy Town? Well, yes, yes I am, but the whole part about lliking culture from other countries means some sort of submission to them is just silly, we live in a global age.

And as I said, there's a difference between japanophiles and Weeaboos. Japanophiles are obsessed with Japanese high culture, history and cuisine and such, while Weeaboos are the people who are obsessed with Japanese popular culture.
