The choice is not between democracy and communism. The choice is between democracy or dictatorship. Communism is an economic idea, the same as Capitalism.

Hitler was a Nazist. Not a communist.
More to the point: What u probably mean is "A republic" or communism, as there never was, and most likely never will be a true democracy, as it would lead to complete disarray, and ultimately the downfall of teh country. I, think a republic is better because of these reasons:
1)Communism discounts greed, and individuality.
2)communism will only work so long, as there is no powerhungry, ambitious, and cruel leader.
3)It's economy is not functional, as has been proven by teh soviet union.
If this ain't enough i'll go on. I'd just like to mention tha communism is not an atheist society. In my point of view it IS a religion, it's just that the nation believes in Stalin/Hitler/Lenin/insert name of leader here, as opposed to jesus/god/allah/buddha/ any other deiti.
