Best technological advice I got for college, "get a tablet" and so I did.

Some version of this to be exact.

I hate tablets. I write slow and horribly in terms of handwriting. I type at about 90-100wpm.
I like the http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/contr oller/e/web/LenovoPortal/en_US/catalog.w orkflow:category.details?current-catalog -id=12F0696583E04D86B9B79B0FEC01C087&cur rent-category-id=27260E1983734A91A115802 FE145A51A probably the base nonelite model looks nice. I value portability over power., and heck, ill be running winnt4 on it anyway (have some games that only run on 4 without quirks of a huge kind)

All I do on my laptop is read, write, and surf the web. Therefore, the EEE 701 is best for me. You'll find better and faster sub-netbooks these days, but that's what I get for early adapting. I save all the heavy stuff for my custom built PC tower.

Get either a MacBook Pro or a Toshiba Computer but I would recommend the Mac because Vista sucks Dragonballz.

pcnextday do the best ones in my opinion. I got my zoostorm laptop from there and the nearest one i could find spec wise, was £100 more.

Calling something "Mac-ish" is hardly a good way to convince someone to get a fucking computer.

Christ. Unless he's an elitist faggot, he wouldn't care.

You mean like the non-existant USB ports pictured here?

I'd say go with the macbook pro if you want to splash out ... amazing machine, great for the arts and, perhaps surprisingly, gaming.

Yuck, I love macs... but no. Get a regular macbook or macbook pro.
And if you're a PC person, I'd go with Dell.

Dell?
Please tell me you're joking. The only thing dell has that actually OFFERS something is Alienware, and although it is insanely good, it's also WAAAY overpriced. Name ONE good computer made directly by dell, and not by one of their subsection companies. Like, as I mentioned, Alienware.

I agree. Macbook Air has no Optical Drive, only one USB port, no expansion slots, no firewire, slower processor, non-user serviceable, non-replaceable battery. It's just bragging rights that you have a very thin computer (and it's no longer the thinnest computer either).
