So I got a Wii for Christmas, and I was wondering if it costed any money to get on the internet on the wii? Like browsing google and newgrounds and stuff. Also, When I connect my internet thing, it will connect but when it starts updating it gets an error. HALP?

no its free, but sometimes the wiis connection is a little off, try moving it closer to the router if you can

I don't know if the internet channel thing is still free; I got the beta back in march or whenever
also, don't let it update. the updates are fucking annoying, and they don't even work on yours.

Thanks!! my Wii is in the living room now so the router is kinda far from it. When My family gets done drooling over it Itll work better in my room. Thanks a bunch!

$5 for the internet channel. Connecting to the internet is free though. You can get the internet channel in the Wii shop channel.

It'll cost you some money to buy a browser for you to surf the net with, but otherwise, you can connect for free.

the internet channel costs money, NOW. it used to be free, but that was a beta version. if you had the free beta version you could get the upgrade to the full version free
to play online is free but friend codes are a huge drawback, as far as I know there isn't a buddy list, except for mii's, and for every game you have a different friend code. as opposed to one username for everything like with PSN or XBL

It's NOT free. Newer models of the Wii require you to purchase the Wii Internet channel via Wii Points which do cost something. I learned that the hard way. You can still play games online, but unless on the case it has that BLUE sticker that says "Nintendo Wi-Fi", then you're going to have to fork over some green.
