movies like transformers that rely on a whole lot of special effects look a little bit different on blu-ray but not enough to justify re-inventing the wheel for.

If I recall correctly, Blu-ray has a much better security system than DVD's do, making it a prime choice for distribution. Less piracy = more buyers = more money.
