A question for deep thinkers. 2008-12-20 16:32:59 Reply

Right here's the situation.

If you had 1 day left as a mortal, and then after that you could live forever and not die, the first 10,000 years would be okay, but after that, it would be shit, then when the world ends, and there is nothing else to do, and its just you on your own, No way out of it. Just sitting there bored out of your fucking skull, doing jack shit.

Would you kill yourself on the day you had left as a mortal?

Please tell me your answers?

I would kill my self on the day i had left as a mortal.

Yes, I would kill myself and I didn't even have to think deep, I just used common sense.

Once you're dead, you can't die again, thus, rough immortaility.

And anyway, flawd question that doesn't consider enough. Can your body die or be damaged?

Now that's a difficult one. I wouldn't kill myself on the last day i had as a mortal simply because i wouldn't have the strength to. There is an attraction to living forever, which is almost innate, and maybe that would be my biggest problem with not accepting it. Maybe i'd just want to see how everything ended up; also, to answer this question accurately i need to know, would you age?

Well you can be damaged, but not die, you physically cannot die, you just have to be alive.

Yes. If you think about it, all you would be doing for a billion years is floating in space and shit, kinda sucky. I thought about this question a lot right after I read the book Tuck Everlasting in middle school.

How so? Can't you body die, as in stagnent blood strem and yet you still remain consious? your mind is is stil alive, still thinking and being aware, yet your body itself is dead, and you just lay there, unable to move.

But i have another addendum, you could give up your whole family's life, to be completely immortal like not to get hurt at all, if you chose to be, would you? Imagine all the cool things you could do, Jump off buildings and survive, Rob a bank and get shot and not die, skydive without a parachute.

Would you do it?

I figure if you live long enough to get away from the end of this solar system, see how things turn out eventually, it would be interesting. But then you'd have to watch everyone you loved die. The problem i would have would be making everyone i loved go through that. I would have to live to be immortal, for their sake, even though it would be my downfall.

You don't know FOR SURE that the world will end. Id stay a immortal and hope that either:
a)Humans find ways to colonize on other planets before they go extinct
b)Humans go extinct and a new race can colonize

Because the only things we know for sure:

-The sun will go out in 40million more years (Or is it billion?)
-A race of animals has never lasted more than 2million years before

What kind of question is that? Who in their right mind would kill his family just to get some superpowers? Of all the horrible questions I've ever heard, that is the most idiotic!

Of course I'd do it!

I wouldnt kill myself because when everyone is dead I would eventually find a plannet that can sustain life and start all over again.

No reason.

i would kill myself yes, because why would i want to be around when the world ends? it said i couldnt die, but didnt say i was impervious to pain, so if the sun exploded and everyone on earth melted, i would have to endure that pain, without being able to die

It depends. If the human race develops (or is given) technology to travel the universe, or at least the galaxy, yes. If not, and my fate would be to stay on earth until it asplodes or whatnot, then no. Of course, I couldn't know that, so my answer is yes.

I don't know if this is cheating, but I'd live and just bring myself to a comatose state if I felt it necessary or more enjoyable.

If that's not allowed, I'd die.

Fuck that, I'd get a good few millenia before I had to worry about the being hideously alone thing.

I think I would want to stick around and see how everything pans out.

I'd stick around and assume that I'd be able to destroy myself some other way (e.g. anti-matter or heating myself on the sun).

This too will pass.

I mean, even if not, it'd still make a humourous Bill Murray-esque montage.

But suicide = Sin

And you can't repent for this sin before you die, because you commit the sin by dying that way.

Unrepented Sin = Hell

Hell = Eternal suffering

The other way

10,000 years of ok, then eternal suffering.

So yeah I'd not kill myself.

whoops i misred the question... yes i would live forever.... technically i would freeze in outerspace and my mind would shut down until i crashewd on another palnet.. if i hit the sun and my brain would evaporate i wouldnt be able to percieve my immortality andf that would kinda be liike death.. i would choose to live forever
