This is not a nominations thread. This is the final voting thread, and as such, will be open until midnight, Dec 31st/Jan 1st, NG time (EST).
If you don't know who to vote for in the user awards section, just vote Dobio. Why not.
If you don't know what to vote for in a video game award section, just vote Dobio too. Lets go wild.
Put some thought into this. First posts are final. I can't speak for the other mods, but I'm not going to go delete your posts if you type in the wrong game/user/whatever.
User Awards:
Most Knowledgeable about Videogames - This user demonstrates an understanding of videogames, both past and present, and is constantly updated on the latest news. They're consistently making us angry by pointing out when we have our facts wrong.
Most Unbiased Poster - What console(s) does this person own? We shouldn't be able to tell by their posting because their opinions don't waver on which console(s) a matter concerns.
Biggest Nintendo Fanboy - The user that still clings onto the glory days of the NES, SNES, and N64 and adamantly defends Nintendo's 2008 lineup of games. Animal Crossing is definitely a game for the hardcore according to this user.
Biggest Sony Fanboy - Clearly, Home is awesome and $500 is an incredible financial deal for a PS3. You thought 2008 was awesome? 2009 is going to be the Year of the PS3...Again! So says the winner of this award.
Biggest Xbox 360 Fanboy - This user hates MGS4 while simultaneously claiming it will be ported to the 360. They should also believe that the PS3 is a paperweight and that Avatars are a AAA game.
Best Overall Poster in the Videogames Forum - A breath of fresh air in the forum. Whether it is because they help people choose which games to buy, always give thoughtful posts, or spark interesting conversations with new threads, this user make the Videogames Forum an enjoyable place to be.
Worst Overall Poster in the Videogames Forum - Who's constantly been pissing you off with their biased and shitty posts? Who's been in every topic (or making every topic) with crappy posts full of stuff you never want to read again?
Videogame Awards:
Best Shooter - The shooter, first-person, third-person, online, offline, or otherwise, that you found to be the most enjoyable.
Best RPG - There were quite a few good RPG's released in 2008, especially in the handheld market. Vote for the one that you like the best.
Best Rhythm Game - The usual contenders are present, with Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero World Tour both being released this year. Still there were some excellent handheld rhythm games released as well and both Microsoft and Sony released karaoke games. Vote for the rhythm game you like making a fool out of yourself with the most.
Best Driving Game - There were quite a few solid racing experiences this year. Which one did you like the most?
Best Action Game - Probably the vaguest genre of gaming. If it's got action and you love it, vote for it.
Best Sports Game - You should be able to figure this one out on your own. If it's got an over-paid athlete on the cover, it's eligible.
Best PSP Game - Best game released on the PSP in 2008
Best DS Game - Best game released on the DS in 2008
Best Xbox 360 Game - Best game released on the Xbox 360 in 2008
Best Wii Game - Best game released on the Wii in 2008
Best PS3 Game - Best game released on the PS3 in 2008
Best PC Game - Best game released on the PC in 2008
Best Graphics - The game that made you look away and then back at the screen to verify that it was actually a game. Graphics over game-play all the way.
Best Sound Design - Whether it be on a battlefield or an abandoned spaceship, this game takes immersion to the next level with its sound. It makes you feel good about purchasing a surround sound system.
Best Multiplayer Game - The game whose multiplayer gives it almost unlimited replayability.
Best PSN/Live Arcade/WiiWare Game - The best game from the three downloadable services on consoles.
Best Console - Which console owned 2008? It could be because of solid game releases, updated services, or because you're a fanboy.
Worst Console - The console that had the worst year.
Best Game No One Played - There were tons of AAA games released this year. Which one is your favorite that you feel didn't get the retail recognition it deserved.
Most Overrated Game - This game is constantly talked up, but it really isn't that great.
Best New IP - Being a new IP (Intellectual Property - ie: a brand name) can be tough, but this game should be the foundation of an awesome new series.
Studio of the Year - The Developer that you believe had the most outstanding year as a result of game(s) they released. Please make sure your vote goes to a developer and not a publisher. For instance, EA is not a developer, but EA Redwood is. Konami is not a developer, but Kojima Productions is. Etc.
Game of the Year - Pretty self-explanatory. The game that released in 2008 on any platform that you enjoyed the most.
