Now that Aleks's stupidity has been dealt with, let's get back on track...

It's great that they will be able to put Hussein on trial and everything now, but this capture doesn't really mean much... Hussein has been completely powerless for months now, and has not been a factor in the work that needs to be accomplished-- establishing a new Iraqi government. Hussein's life was over in March, as illustrated by the "spider hole" in which he was recently residing. While it's good that he can be brought before courts, this doesn't in any way mean that the troops are coming home, or are in any less danger than before. I don't think it adds any validity to the war for those who didn't believe in it to begin with, as well.

I believe that contrary to what taxman said, Saddam's capture had lots of value... true he had no real power left, but then again he was still a symbol for the resistance fighters... I'm not sure though if telling the world we captured him was a good idea. On one hand it takes a lot of pressure off Bush, and destroes a symbol of Iraqi resistance, on the other hand, if he is condemned to death(as I hope he will, in some brutal islamic manner at that(at least I hope)) We'll give those fuckers a martyr, and an anti american one at that. But then again, we didn't catch him, it was all computer generated, This whole world is generated by green men from mars, so they can control our minds, and use the earths resources alex(sounding a bit like the matrix at second glance... except even more farfetched, well or just as farfetched maybe))

I don't know. I theorize that a lot of the resistance isn't necesarrily pro-saddam as much as their anti-US and anti-occupation.

i heard on the news that many iraqis didn't attack the american soldiers because they feared that saddam would return if the americans were driven out (a 'lesser of two evils' way of thinking). well, now that saddam's out of the way, they've got nothing holding them back.

and yes, saddam was a symbol. but soon he'll be a martyr.

honestly, i want him to rot in a jail cell for the rest of his life and let him think about what got him there (it might even drive him insane too. but that stops him from actually thinking about it normally, which defeats the purpose...). death is too light of a sentence and real torture makes us just like him. (to all of those people who wanted to invent ways to torture him, your imagination reminds me of saddam's)

Yes, I am. I don't have the information. We can't say that it was a lie or a bad choice because we don't know the exact evidence that went into making that decision. For all we know, the evidence could have seemed to be indisputable proof and we were just wrong. You can say that the government was wrong about the wmds, you can speculate about them, but saying resolutely that it was just an excuse to invade is unbased.

Exactly what i/m trying to tell these people. There are no WEAPONS OF MASS destruction. USA makes it all up so Bush could sound more of a hero and stay in office. So come to think of it.
