I run Linux. KUbuntu, for that matter. I also have a Windows PC (it just sits there now) and a Mac (for audio projects and shit that has to get done at an alarming rate.) I have pretty much seen and used it all. I have an Xbox 360 and the only thing I don't like is how expensive the games are, but whatever. They are still great games. And the biggest and most fun games out there exist for BOTH X360 and Sony PS3 and they cost the same, so I really don't see why you should be hating on Microsoft. They make great technological advances. You need to chill little kid.

It's not as good as it could be. There's a stupid security feature that asks questions to running the simplest of software, it's annoying. You can disable it but unless you have good antivirus then it leaves your computer open which is a real pain in the ass.

Mac OS X - It is still functional and is made for people like this smartnoob character. Mostly because it is simple and straight forward, and there is basically no system tweaking involved. This means that, while you are paying more for apple configuring what they think you would like from your os for you, you will never unlock it's full potential.

Linux - Loved by all pros. This uses much less of your system by far than other major os's, and still retains a lot of program compatibility, being one of the major ones.

Windows - Is for people like me. I pretty much know every dark corner of XP, having gone through so much with it. I have solved every single problem i have ever faced with windows xp and vista using nothing but my own common sense and the common sense of others, over the internet, except for one: Windows Vista will not let me install the driver for my Monitor. This is a known defect. The monitor works fine, all of it's features work (90 degree autotilt, built in speakers, usb 2.0 connectivity in the side of the monitor), and it is not my fault, and not microsoft's fault that it will not install the driver. Windows is the balance of the simplicity you see on a mac and the supreme customizable user-defines-everything functionality that people expect from linux.

Let it be known that i am not taking any sides here. I am simply stating what i know. This doesn't mean that i do not have an opinion on the matter, i DO believe that windows is the better of the three OS's. But only because it suits me and what i do. I just went through all of this in a mac vs pc thread, and i'm too lazy to go into further details.

Windows Vista is very stable. I think that people who don't want to make the move to Vista are just whiners... They complain about something they've never tried just based on rumors that are spread by Mac fanboys. Vista is slower than XP but it's a much more reliable OS than XP. Also, it has excellent security; I haven't done a virus or spyware scan since I bought my machine last year and it's still running perfectly.

In Vista, when an application freezes; you can still use the other applications without affecting performance while the frozen application gets shut down. Also, the search feature is lightning fast.
I've used Ubuntu once and I hated it; it's slow and the resolution wouldn't go over 1000*800 which meant that it didn't look very sharp on my 19" display. Also, I found Ubuntu to be very basic and I just didn't like it. Windows is still a competitive company and I hope they keep putting out great products. I'm sick of these Mac and Linux fanboys posing as 'experts' and saying that Windows is shit - they don't know what they're talking about. I'm doing IT at uni and I can tell you that most people who do the serious courses (like software engineering) use Windows as it's got the best tools for developers - real 'experts' will tell you that Windows is better.

Unstable? How is it unstable? I haven't had a BSOD on XP since about 6 months ago, and that was my fault. All the windows features are OK, and I haven't had to reinstall Windows for about a year, and again, that was my bad there because I messed around with the partitioning (silly me).

I disagree with everything you say, yes Vista has faults, and yes Microsoft do make some mistakes, but the mistakes can be remedied by developing new products that will destroy those faults.
