My speakers pick up my text messages coming to my phone! About five seconds before I get a call or text my speakers start making a weird humming sound, and then my phone rings. They also pick up police/taxi radio.
They're just ordinary Altec Lansings, nothing special.
Does this happen to anyone else?

This happens with a lot of electrical equipment, like:
Radios, PCs, Speakers (as you said), and a lot of other things.

I always have my headphones (wireless) on. And it always does that, when my cell is checking the connection, it actually pisses me off, so I put my cell in an other room. ^^ When you're trying to make something sound good while making music, and then that annoying sound >.<
But yeah, I experience that too. and too often.

With all the advancements in technology I think that there is bound to be some interference, I wouldn't be surprised if some wire adjustments would turn each of those into one and another.

It's very annyoing when you forget your speakers on and when your cellphone is close to them, and someone calls me, it makes really loud noise, especially when I'm sleeping.

Apparently when people make phone calls with Skype, people can phone jack you and listen it. Because you don't have caller ID. Something like that...

That's quite a scary concept, but I guess its the price you pay if you're going to make phone calls with Skype.

Its just the way phones send out signals. Some times it makes my screen flicker.

It only works from skype to home/cell phone. So really, you would be paying for that anyway.

Yeah it happens to me, it's just because the same thing that radios and mobiles phone use to pick up text messages is embeded iside of your headphones. they come like that you just have to deal with it. It's kinda cool though when you can tel when your about to get a text or call!

Holy shit! I think I have the same speakers as you, they do the same. They're also Altec Lansing.
