Ok Newgrounds, during this semester I've been experimenting with the usage of type. I've found it quite interesting. This is an open typography thread for others that are curious and/or want to try some type art. So let's see what you got. I'll start it off with a couple of mine.

Here's another one I did at the end.

I'm thinking of resizing and adding some text to this one. Maybe change the color, it seems a little off to me .

This is an extremely interesting thread you have started. I have never tried any typography but have definitely seen it before. I was actually listening to the Killers while I looked over this. :P
All very nicely done. This has made me interested in seeing if I can accomplish anything similar.

There are lots of sites and applications that can turn images into text like this. I am skeptical.

Be skeptical no more. I do my stuff in illustrator.

It varies. The first project I posted was an assignment to take a recipe and make the food into type using it. In that instance I went straight to text. Other times I'll take a photograph, or in some cases like the pico below, I'll use an existing artwork and transport it to illustrator. When in there, I'll map out the color/shading and go from there.

Id explore using different letters rather than just the O in the pico one.. like maybe having an image made of thousands of PICO letters would be more interesting.. right now they arent reading as letters they are just circles

you should try experimenting with size too when filling in shapes with text, it would help show depth.

That's gonna be my next step. Like I only started doing this off and on at the end of september, so I'm still fairly new at it. Though in the first one I posted (shrimp) I used different letters and words, but to date that's the only one that I've done. Maybe another one like that for my next one? We shall see.....

Here's one of my recent experiments. I think it'll look great as a sticker, and it may look better if I add other stuff to it like paint drips, etc.

I have crap on my school computer, you guys are just using o's. in my opinion typography is better when words are used, like im doing a pic of a squirrel and using words like, nuts, nature, furry cute and so on to form its image. Maybe ill upload it by the end of the week
Boom

I think the typeface is a bit too flashy and difficult to read. I'm in Typography (GD102) now and my teacher would find the "Monster-font" way too much. You should probably try and observe different fonts in either Illustrator or InDesign the portray the appropriate message. Graphic Design/Typography teachers often HATE display typefaces.
You want somethin' done right you gotta dooooooooooooit yourself!
