Fastest Browser (My findings)

Every Internet browser has it's fan boys and it's haters. These days, it's almost like the console wars. Knowing there's a lot of debate between internet browsers, I decided to test them myself.

Internet explorer, Opera, Firefox, and Chrome were the browsers I compared.

OTHER THOUGHTS
The fact that Internet explorer was the fastest all around browser truly surprised me. I would've expected it to be the slowest. Opera, in addition to having the worst upload speeds and search time, had a much higher ping than the other browsers; on average, 20 times worse. This may lead to lag in browser based multiplayer games.

Please note that this has nothing to do with best browser, since each one has it's own perks. I tried to rule out as many variables as possible during these tests. My computer was idle except for the test I was currently conducting. Whenever I obtained the first result for a new browser, I crosschecked it with an extra test from my default browser to rule out network variations.

So, what do you think of these results? Are they reflected in the browser you use?

Interesting findings but you also have to take into account the speed of your computer and internet connection. I personnaly use Mozilla Firefox because it is opensource so I can edit it anyway I want to and unlike Internet Explorer it isn't built into the operating system so it doesn't contact as many virus's.

It has no fucking importance anyway because I don't give a fuck if I have to wait 1 second or 3 seconds for a page to load... It makes no difference.

I like the interface of Chrome so I use Chrome. All and all most browsers run the same on my PC anyway.

Whatever that's a tiny difference. It's an even smaller difference considering that I have slow internet, so really the difference between firefox and IE would be almost unnoticeable.

No way is that right. Only yesterday I used IE and Firefox simultaneously (so that I could log on with 2 NG accounts to avoid the post limit) and IE runs at almost half the speed! You seem to have your facts mixed up.

I just loaded IE and it took ~15 seconds to load the homepage.
I just loaded FF and it took ~4 seconds to load the homepage.
I just loaded Chrome and it took ~1 second to load the homepage.

Basically everyone downloads whats IN and forgets about what really works internet explorer is better deal with it.

Those are some quite amazing findings. I tried doing a similar test (though on a smaller scale) several months ago and I found that Firefox functioned the fastest.

Yeah, what with all those awesome security holes and the way it pretty much fucks up any proper xhtml so you need to code a seperate version of your site for IE. Fantastic.

IE died for me, Safari totally crashed, so I have Firefox now. I like all the cool add ons.

I don't mind any browser except for FireFox 3. That browser is so terrible.

Maybe it's the faster when comparing it to firefox by itself. But the point of firefox is that it's completely customizable. There are many interesting little tweeks that you can make to firefox in order to make it faster.
