Yeah the whole "aquired taste" philosophy is stupid.
You'll never ever like beer more than coke. Ever.
No matter how much beer you drink and how little coke you sip, you will never love the taste of beer more than the taste of coca-cola.
And I suspect it's the same for everything.
"it's an aquired taste" seems to only refer to either:
"I've always liked it so I assume you'll like it eventually if you eat it"
or
"eat this enough and it won't be so gross, maybe even tolerable".
Take this from a guy who hated beer and who has since drank many gallons. I enjoy the drink as a beer, because it can be full of strange flavors and it makes you drunk, but I'm not biased enough to pretend it tastes great now.
It's INTERESTING is what I'd say.
