Why do I keep thinking I'm going to like mangos? They taste pasty and weird. Every time I buy a mango or anything with mango juice, or someone offers me mango, I eat it because I think I should like it, but I don't.
Does that happen to you? Do you have a food that you keep eating because you wish you'd like it, but you just don't?

Usually there are loads, but now that you ask none of them are sticking out in my mind.
Give me a minute or two.

Nuts (no not those...) and candy. I mean I like them both a little, but when I get starded I just can't stop, though I don't really want to eat it.

Lauren loves mangos.
I however, experience a phenomenon just like yours. "A freshly picked mango, straight off the tree" sounds bloody amazing, but yet... it's messy. And kinda... like it used to be sweeter back-a-few-months-when-you-bought-it style.
Pomegranates are another enticing, exotic, and ultimately disappointing fruit.

Ah, that's it. You know those green melons that are red in the inside? A water melon? Anyway, I think they look amazing, and the red makes you think it will have a real strong fruity flavour, but it tastes of water. I suppose the clue was in the name.

Super effective on a hot day of course

And also: scotch. Every time I'm about to drink a shooter, I get overwhelmed by the sweet caramel and oak scents but then I drink it and it just burns my throat. What a stupid drink. You can't savor liquor unless you've smoked all your life and drink scalding coffee every morning before you eat your jalapenos.
Liquor is for mixing, that's my new policy in life :O

In which case I must try them in the summer. It's going to be quite a wait though. Hope I don't forget.

Nuts. Of any kind. Chestnut, hazel nut etc. They all taste nasty and gritty and get stuck in my teeth. The only nuts I do like a peanuts. I just never tasted the niceness in nuts. I mean Snickers look nice, taste crap though.

Do you mean 160 proof? 80 proof is only 40%.

I feel that way about eggnog. Every year I buy it thinking forgetting how much I liked/disliked it, but I'm always highly disappointed. I just don't dislike it enough to stop drinking it.
About mangoes - I actually like mango flavour more than I like actual mangoes.
looking good and dressing well is a necessity. having a purpose in life is not.

Quite a lot of vaguely exotic fruit: Watermelon, mango, grapefruit, etc.
Watermelon tastes OK, but it's just too messy and not worth the effort.. Mango is just odd... Grapefruit is far too sour, or bitter, or something else I can't put my finger on..

Which is really quite ironic as peanuts are vegetables. Going back to the original thread subject, for me it's tomatoes. Every so often i think "Yes, i'd really like some tomatoes," and then i sit down with a grilled tomato, or a fried tomato, or something like that, and i just can't stand it.
Frankly, it's neither stupid, nor dangerous, nor pointless, so count me out.

Sorry, I didn't know you were a mango connoisseur. Sure, I've had a ripe mango and I prefer the flavour. Do you need more of an explanation or reason?
