I did this in 3 days for a conceptart application to a mod, the Image below is a shitty cropped version and you've really gotta open this to see the whole thing.

Turns out that after I completed this, they didn't have any work in the way of concept art to do since they're trying to release a beta at the end of december. I'm probably going to re apply for textures whenever the hell I understand how to UV map.

For now, I at least have a new painting to finish. My major problem with this piece right now, is that it doesn't have a focus and there isn't much of a story point, so the image is a little unremarkable. Anyone got nit picks?

Sadly nothing significant. It's a great setting.
I'm assuming it's a well-guarded drilling pit, so maybe it needs something in the foreground to show what they're mining, and why it's so precious.

Pretty good idea. I'll probably implement that in some way.

If you want to be more over-the-top obvious you could move that huge floating point it toward the mine and add a tail, as if it was going to hit it at some point. To further emphasize have the closest mech be looking at it, it'd give you a focal point and a story, even if it is a blantanley clear cliché one. you could even turn the ships if it still felt busy to point at the would be mine destroying asteroid.

I really like it as is though XD at least in my mind concept art doesn't need to tell a story but rather set the scene which this piece did.

I'm cool now... Right guys?... Guys?
