This is the second time this has happened now: Authors have PM'd me about my reviews, claiming them to be 'too harsh'. The reason for this is because the author had said specifically that it was either their first flash or one that they had only put a limited amount of time into them. But I only reviewed them as I would any other- finding and commenting on the strengths of weaknesses of the submission.
So I wonder: Should I curb my reviews based on the context in which they were submitted?

No. Who cares if it's their first flash, if it sucks it sucks. Write what you thought of it, and don't let what the author sais impact your view on it.

As long as your review is helpful and on point, you shouldn't be concerned about how the authors will take it.
If it is their first movie, they sorta need the negative CONSTRUCTIVE criticism in order to better themselves.
And if the author simply did not spend enough time on the flash to make it decent, then he needs to hear that as well.

Use GParted to delete the partition on the drive you want to format, then you can either format it in GParted or Windows. I recommend Windows if that's all you use.

I did a quick perusal of your reviews and I don't see anything wrong with them. Sounds to me like the author's ego was bruised. Valjylmyr is right though; if it sucks, it sucks (just don't say that in your review). Continue with your constructive criticism and you'll be fine. :-)

Yay, I've never been right about anything.
