Even very weak integrated graphics chips today would easily outpace a CPU at game rendering. The concept is comforting, but as the article attributes, such a feature was only useful in the early days of 3D gaming.
The processor has it's own work to do in a game as well, such as AI, physics, and giving information to the GPU. Especially if your computer is already lacking, putting that much more stress on the CPU would obviously be counter-productive.
