3.80 / 5.00 4,200 ViewsThings are really slowing down now. I have a couple more exams and a couple of projects left to turn in, but as the days get nicer outside the shorter classes are becoming. I was let out of my first class an hour early today and my second class about 15 minutes early.
I also forgot to write two papers, but woke up at 2 in the morning and got them finished. So as you can imagine I'm a little tired today, but nothing too bad.

That's normally my opinion too... but I use the "it's only the first year anyway" line to console myself when I get a worse grade than I'd hoped for, or when I just can't be bothered with the work. ;P
I'm more than happy to put the work in, unlike some of my friends who have already resigned themselves to failing the first year, lol.
Yesterday was a busy day. Just went out around town and had fun and later that night went to track meet here on campus. Ended up falling asleep at midnight, which is almost unheard for me as I usually stay up until 2 in the morning. Then on top of that I slept to 10:00, which is also something unheard from me because I have to wake up early everyday.
Oh well, I think I officially caught up with my sleep now.
Also, if any of you remember that I was going to go to a bench press competition here pretty soon, the competition got canceled because of insurance reasons. Apparently someone got hurt last year and now the school is having a hard time finding insurance to cover it. Whatever though, I'm going to go to the gym and bench 225 like it was the competition and I'm going to take a video of it for proof as I did have a guessing game on my blog about a month or so ago on the subject.
Today wasn't too bad of a day. It was pretty rainy outside and I didn't get to bed until three in the morning again, but overall the whole day went pretty well. This will be the last time that I go to my late class (5:40) this semester as all I have to do is hand in two papers and I'm finished with the class.
Also, good news in an email. I got a job down here for the summer. The job is pretty much being a tutor/person to help make the transition from high school to college easier for students who weren't the best off academically in high school. Should be fun and I'm down here for the summer anyway for classes so it sounds like it is going to work out well.
My girlfriend also received the job.
Well with my Finals right around the corner (in about a month) I've began to really buckle down and study hard for it. Last year my finals were about 40-50 pages each and took a couple of days to complete them all, this year I'm hoping won't be as bad as last. But on the bright side I will be graduating June 12th.
yay
|"My dick was in the Guinness Boom of World Records... Then I left the library.|
A lot of things went on during this last week of the semester.
I went for an 18 mile hike up a mountain, went for a 10 mile walk to a nearby town, swam across a river to an island, etc..
Someone also died yesterday in the river. They were about half way through and got a cramp. The end result of course was the person drowned. I didn't personally know the person, but I wish I could have been there and just given the chance to save him. I wish someone could have saved him. The closest person was an extremely small girl who could have never saved his life.
I think that's the third person that has died here this year now. One suicide, one car accident, and a drowning. Seems to happen every semester.
Two more finals and I'm done. It feels nice to barely have anything to do.
1 piece of coursework for tomorrow...
2 exams on May 12th, and 1 exam on May 20th...
And I'm done for the year. Don't know if I'm more excited about the prospect of no work or sad to have to go for at least a month without seeing my friends every day.
My final stuff to do:
1 final tomorrow
2 more finals on the 8th and 13th of May
Essay due on the 5th of May
Another essay due on the 15th of May
I'm almost done with the essays already so I just have to study a lot for the tests and I'll be golden and ready for graduation.
I've got like six exams from mid-may through to early june :(

At least they're spread out a bit, so you have time to revise, right? I'd prefer to have the time to prepare rather than having everything all crammed in together, as I'd probably get a worst result in that case.
That's why I'm not looking forward to the 12th May... 2 exams in one day is never nice.
So I'm officially done with this semester. Finished my last exam around 3 today. Only took me about a hour so it wasn't too bad at all. Depending on how I did on the exam I should make the Deans List this semester, which you need a 3.5 GPA for where I go to college. I'm thinking I have a 3.5 to a 3.6 this semester.
Woo! Representin Villanova University, in PA, which i just realized the other day is right near the Newgrounds HQ. Fun!

Congrats Corky. I myself only made the Dean's list twice in my college career; I think my sophomore year. I'm was such an under achiever :P

Must not have done too great on the exam as I finished this semester with a 3.43, which isn't terrible at all, but still not great. Two semesters in a row that I had over a 3.4, but still under a 3.5 GPA. Oh well theres always two more chances next year and the year after that.

Nice. A few kids from my school are going there.
Well, I did another audition and I got accepted into William Paterson University's Sound Engineering Program! It's gonna be awesome!
aw shit.
10 page research paper due tomorrow and only have 2 pages done. Been trying to work on it for weeks, but just couldn't get the ideas down on paper

Well I hope you can manage to get it done. Once you sit down and really start working on a paper it doesn't take too long to do. I could sit down and write a good 10 page paper in about 3 hours or so. It's just finding the will power to actually sit down and write it. Perhaps longer than that though.
If you need some help making it longer just make all of the periods size 14 font. You can turn one page into one page and a quarter of another page simply by doing that and you can't tell by looking at it.
attending wesleyan university next fall.. Very excited. hope it will be fun.

I'm attending Lethbridge College in Canada at the moment, taking the Multimedia Production course, going to be specializing in Movie Producing and Directing, that sort of stuff. Also going to have some Animation and Graphic Design under my belt as well...which could become pretty handy i suppose.
Loved making videos back in High School, i found every excuse in any class so i could go out and get that camera and make one. Just had a huge passion for it, so it's time to follow it XD
You cannot kill what you did not create.
Just a question, I will be an upcoming college student this July. Since I will be a freshmen, and for order to gain experince on college life, can I join this club? If it is required to be a college student for real, then I guess I will wait for two months till July comes my way.

yeah bullshit. The professor's got hundreds of legit papers to grade with one that has a curiously larger font size than the others. I'm satisfied with my 8 pages

I know that this is an extremely late response, but I'll call bullshit on your bullshit. There is no way to see the difference just by looking at the paper. The only way you could see was if you put it up against another paper to see the difference or if the professor actually put a ruler on the paper.
I mean, I'm not lying. Obviously it works if I've been doing it for about 6 years now successfully. It was a commonly known thing where I went to high school and in college. Almost everyone did it and I was actually taught it by a teacher in 7th grade.
Even though I only use it once in awhile. I rarely find a time where I can't write the appropriate amount of pages. If anything I have a hard time not writing too many pages.
Anyway, I start summer courses in about 3 weeks. I only have two classes, but they are several hours each so it's just like having a full schedule. I do have a job this semester as a counselor/tutor though so I'll be much more busier then past semesters.

He said just make the periods larger, not all the text. It also works for chopping down length, but that's usually only an issue in technical courses.
Anyway, I landed a 12 month internship in R&D for photocatalytic and solar selective absorptive coatings, so I'm working full time for the time being. Even though I have to budget 12 months worth of salary for 24 months plus tuition, it's infinitely more enjoyable than being a student. On nights and weekends, I'm actually free instead of having five assignments and two tests perpetually hanging over my head.
Also, missed the dean's list by 1% this year :/

Oh man.. I never thought about doing it to shorten the length of my papers. I think there were two times last year where I needed to shorten a paper by about 5 sentences and that would have worked perfect. Thanks man that will be useful in the future.

Ah, I was .03 off of the Dean's list by my GPA. I know how it feels man. This was the 2nd semester in the row for me.
Anyway, I go back to college Friday. I have meetings and things for my new job down there during summer classes. Then Saturday I have to work, but other than that I don't know when I work. I'm lucky my girlfriend also got the job so she can keep me straight and organized.
I think about 100 people applied for the job and only 8 were hired. I feel kind of lucky that I got it.
I'll also have 2 classes each day except for Friday I only have one. My science class is 4 hours long and my speech class is 2 hours long. Too long for me to sit in a class room, but it's only for 5 weeks so it can't be too bad.
Hey guys, I go to Mount Ida College in Massachusetts. I'm an animation major!
I know it's the 1st year and all and it's a doss, but I got 75.5% overall after all modules final marks were released!

I'm sure some of you (or none) have heard of the song "I Love College" by Asher Roth.
And how would you compare your college to this song? And is ANYTHING in this song true about college(besides the "I gotta head to back to class" line)? Because I know there's more to college
than this, like classes.
Thank you for your time.

Basically if you are going to college on your parents dime and they are say, upper-middle class or so, and they don't demand you do well in your classes, then yeah, college would be kind of like that.
Unfortunately many of us live in the real world where we all need to get a job some time and we have to pay for our own tuition, so if we fail a class we're fucked.
