So yeah, I went to college with my friend last year and we ended up not liking each other anymore...

Yeah, that raises another question. There are a lot of times where I don't really feel these guys are my friends, it's more like I just hang out with them because we've known each other for so long and I don't have anybody else to hang out with... I'm doubting that this could happen again in college, but is there any way to truly avoid it? I'm already trying to be active in a number of different activities and stuff like that, but I've tried the same thing in high school and it always ends up the same way... Ending up hanging out with them again...

The name of the game today was career fair. I got one interview out of it and after the happiness from that subsided, I remembered that I had never been in a real interview and that the types of questions they're going to ask at this point may rip me to shreds. D:

I have a week to prepare though so at least that's one thing. I have to think of some times I was actually a 'leader in my community' Great, now I might have to just outright lie. (But I won't). I just hope all goes well. It'd be nice to have a job before school is over for me.

It's for Target btw so if I get a job you all get discounts :D

When your interviewing with others. Research the companies before you meet with these people. Also, ask what training programs they have to offer in order for you to become a better person.

Don't for get to be yourself.

The hardest question is "So, tell me about yourself." That one always tears me apart because you have to describe yourself and how your education and work experience will benefit them without sounding wordy.

I had a phone interview with a financial firm last month and I froze up nervous. It didn't really go well to say the least. So, if I was you I would practice, practice, practice unless you're a natural speaker.

Yeah I know. I went back to Day 2 of the fair today and got another interview for tomorrow. Man if only I didn't have work today, I would have a ton more time to research and come up with answers to those typical interview questions. I surprised myself too when I was talking to the recruiter. He caught me off guard when he all of a sudden asks the question "So what does this type of job mean to you." and without thinking I blurted out something like "To provide the customer with the best service possible." and next thing I know I'm getting offered an interview. At least my other one is next week so if this interview doesn't go well, I can at least get a better idea of what I'm going to be asked.

I think I can survive that one. It's the other ones like "Tell us a situation where you showed leadership." that I'm worried about. I really could just make up a story if I can't remember something in the next few hours. I remember when I was interviewing with Target for a part time job, the entire time I was making up stories or exaggerating stories based on things that had recently happened to me. Maybe I can get away with that on a part time job, but for something like this I'd rather have all of my answers be true.

I can be a natural speaker in an important situation. While selling myself to these recruiters I acted confident as best I could and I was able to strike up some decent conversations with them so I know that for the most part I can do that. But I know I should definitely practice tonight for these questions.

Ugh, nipped in to the labs to check my facebook while on the way back from the guild (Student Union bar), and in the last few minutes a small blizzard has started.

It's snowing like a sonofabitch here - so maybe this will happen to me tomorrow! :D

We were only supposed to get 3 inches, but the snow was also supposed to stop in the afternoon - and its still coming down in blankets at 9pm. Lets hope it keeps up and the ground freezes over some before 9am tomorrow.

Currently enrolled back into school for Open studies. Will be registering for the University of Calgary. To take adult mature student. (I did lousy in High School, and my first year of college here at Mount Royal).

If there is advice I'd like to give... DO NOT FUCK AROUND please! those F-s will haunt you, you may retake the course, but they'll still be there. I fucked around. I'm 30 and wandered in academic limbo.

Advice two, take advantage of the gym facilities, go running once a week, if you have a spare day, or swimming. It's free, if not it's just 5 bucks as you're a student. Beats paying 60 bucks a month right?

Take up an extra circular activity, it'll help your chances to get a scholarship for the subsequent year. Infact, if you're in the health services, and or social services majors, the place you volunteer at would definatly likely give you an internship for your praticum. I myself am a regular volunteer at the Homeless Shelter. Write for the School paper. These will impress your employer, especially if you have a bunch of friends on your facebook, and latter on they may know someone who might be able to help you get a job, or do some side extra circular like entrepreneurial business, as you guys grow older. (Ie investing your huge paycheck you get from your new job. You guys pool together, and grow).

Take up a part time job, it makes beer club money, easier to come by.

Above all, take pride that you are bettering yourself and bettering the world by being a young professional who has many many years of rewarding work ahead of them building country.

OR you can do what I did, fuck around in the first year and spend the next 10 years or so trying to convince them to let you back in, and in the mean time work shit jobs while you try and pay off student loans.

7:30 woke up, then "rested my eyes"
8:00 showered, got dressed, ate, checked mail and left dorm
9:00 got to my class and found a note that said the teacher was sick, class was canceled. I thought "this is fuckin bullshit." went back to dorm and slept till 11

I hate when you have to do something, so you prepare and stuff, then find out you didn't have to do it at all.
